The end of another busy and fruitful week at Bowbrook.  We reflect on the events and successes of the week past and look ahead to the final week of term and the opportunities, activities and festivities it includes!  Thank you to all staff for contributing so much and for keeping going after such a busy but amazingly successful week last week!

Bowbrook trips

End of Spring Term Timings

Just a reminder that Thursday 21st March is the last day of the Spring Term.  Prep school collection is at 3pm whilst the Middle and Senior School finish at 3.30pm.  Parents who have children in both the Prep and Middle or Senior School are more than welcome to wait until the later time of 3.30pm to collect.  There is no after school prep on this day.

Years 7,9 and 11 have school reports which will be handed to them on the last day.  They will also be published to the Parent Portal which can be used to access all previous assessment reports.

The Evesham bus will be leaving school at just after 3.30pm for Prep, Middle and Senior School pupils.

S11 Art Exam

We wish the Year 11 artists Good Luck for the first exam of the season (GCSE Art and Design) which begins on Monday 18th March morning and runs across three days.  They have been working exceptionally hard and are well prepared!  Best of luck!!

Driving in the Village

A polite reminder: There is a 30 mile an hour speed limit IN Peopleton and a few residents who are mindful of the speed of cars through the village to our school. Please also be mindful and considerate to walker on and off the paths.  This would be very much appreciated to maintain our positive relationships with our close neighbours.

Paris trip reminders

A few reminders ahead of our trip.

Please be at school promptly for 3.00 am on Friday morning  22nd March. When parking please be mindful of the neighbours and avoid parking near to the gates which may make things difficult for the coach driver, or near neighbours houses who will be trying to sleep.

Medicines should be brought into the office well before Friday morning as there is another form to fill in when you drop them off.

Spending money should also be brought in well before Friday morning; euros only please; students can be responsible for the limited amount of sterling they will need for the coach journey on the English stages.

Mobile phone numbers. If students are bringing a mobile phone, please get them to write the number in their planners to pass on to Mr Whittingham in their French lessons so that we can compile a contact list. They should input the emergency number given at the parent meeting ahead of us leaving.

We’re all very excited and looking forward to a great time.

Regards
John Whittingham

Malta Sports Tour

The departure date is fast approaching and the excitement is palpable!  Please refer to communications sent by Mr Swain via the parent portal for all of the information you may need to prepare.  If you have any questions at all, please do not hesitate to contact Mr Swain who will be happy to help.

St Richard’s Hospice ‘The Great Waddle’

The deadline for the baby penguin designs is upon us but we will still be accepting these up until 20th March. These will then be handed in to Mr Allen so that he can select the winning design. Our little painting team will be making a start on the penguin straight after the holidays. You can still get a template sheet from Mrs Mellor or Mrs Barnett if you need one.

Zoo for a Day

We are very much looking forward to welcoming your pets next Wednesday 20th March at our Zoo for a day.  For parents bringing large animals to the field Zoo, as a guide 11.45 arrival in order to set up.

The community dog walk starts at 2pm.

We are hoping that pupils from years 5-9 will take part in the walk whether they have a dog or not.  Pupils will walk in a year group and parents/grandparents can join that year group to walk.  All pupils who intend going on the walk, should have told their form teacher and bring P.E kit, suitable footwear and a jacket on the day.

It is not too late to register a pet for the lab Zoo, field Zoo or the walk, please just let Mrs Robinson know to expect you.

Thank you, let’s hope that the weather is kind to us.
Mrs Robinson

PC pop up cafe & preloved uniform sale

A reminder that the Parents’ Committee  are holding a pop up cafe & preloved uniform sale next Wednesday 20th March from 3pm until 4:30pm at the outdoor classroom.  This coincides with the end of the Zoo for a Day dog walk so please feel free to stay after and have a coffee.

Easter Chocolate Hamper Raffle

The much anticipated Chocolate Hamper draw will happen next week in our celebration assemblies.  ALL pupils are asked to donate to their form’s hamper which they will box and decorate (there is a prize for best hamper!).  Raffle tickets have been sent home for purchase but if you would like more then please do contact the school office.  All proceeds go towards your Parents’ Committee funds and specifically towards new lighting in the hall which will benefit the whole school – so please be as generous as you can.

Many thanks
The Parents Committee

News from the Prep School

This has been a busy week in the Prep school with pupils completing end of term assessments and prepping for the final week of term with ‘Tait’s Treasures,’ our Easter service, a disco and Easter egg hunt along with Zoo for a day – we have so much to look forward to!

It was lovely to see so many parents at parent’s evening on Thursday, I hope you found the comments from your teachers informative.

Class 1/ 2 and Mrs Mao would like to say a huge thank-you to Olly Peacop in Year 7 for delivering a fantastic presentation on fossils yesterday.  We learnt lots of new things and were amazed by all the artefacts that Olly shared with us.  We now have a whole class of children who want to be palaeontologists!

This week our assembly was led by N/R pupils and we awarded the ‘Star Pupil’ certificates to the following:

  • N/R - Isabelle McElroy for good reading.
  • I1 - Jonas Ford for super maths.
  • I2 - Iris Cates for great fact finding on Mary Anning and a lovely clay fossil.
  • J3 - Ruth Drakeley for an excellent poster on the life of Howard Carter.
  • J4 - Beau Clarke for a supper effort in his assessments.
  • J5 - Hollie Harris for great participation in all her lessons.
  • J6 - Jasmine Wright for working hard in her English lessons.

We also commended the following pupils for achieving their Accelerated Reader certificates: Harry Stephens, Aadil Haque, Fabien Mason, Hollie Harris and Orla Dunne.

Congratulations also to Violet Williams who achieved a gold medal with her U11’s football team in a local tournament last weekend.

Well done to everybody.

A reminder please that we are collecting chocolate donations for our Easter hampers – if you haven’t yet brought anything in then please do so by Wednesday 20th March next week.

Also, all Prep pupils are invited to our Easter disco on Wednesday in the school hall – 3.30 – 4.30pm.

Have a lovely weekend.
Mrs. Ridge

Music News

Congratulations to Ayana Govin in S10 who achieved ‘Distinction’, and first in her category in the Worcester Competitive Arts Festival at the Royal Grammar School at the weekend. The adjudicator’s mentioned in their feedback that “…a haunting melodic line, and ……she has produced a song of immense beauty and emotion ……a truly memorable song”. We are so proud to have such talent in school; very well done Ayana!

Congratulations too go to class J6 who gave some wonderful performances this week. The class have composed a piece of music for the opening of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. There were some excellent creations. In particular, Violet Williams, Sam Bowditch and Harper Lilly-Hartwell shone with their energetic rapping and chord progression. Very well done!

Finally, J4 deserve a mention this week for their superb recorder playing. The class have been partaking in a short recorder course and have made great progress; what a lovely sound J4 – very well done!

Well done to all of our musicians this week!

Mrs Izod
