School Registrar's Welcome

Choosing a new and, perhaps, first school for your child can be a daunting but extremely rewarding task. The choice of the most appropriate school can seem an impossibly difficult decision to make but, in our experience, parents should trust their own judgement – you know your own children best and we are here to guide you  through every step of the way.

At Bowbrook House School, we aim to make our admissions process as seamless and stress-free as possible and, as School Registrar, I am the first point of contact for all prospective parents. I am always on hand to answer any questions you might have.

Please see our step by step guide to the Admissions Process for further information. Once initial enquiries are completed, we usually arrange an interview and tour of the school either with our Headmaster, Mr Allen; our Head of Prep, Mrs Ridge or with myself. This is usually followed by prospective pupils attending two consecutive ‘Taster Days’.

Feel free to contact me or the school on 01905 841242 or on one of the following email:

charlotte.heaume@bowbrookhouseschool.co.uk

I look forward to welcoming you to Bowbrook House School.

Charlotte Heaume,
School Registrar

Please complete the Pupil Enquiry form below and the SEND Questionnaire if appropriate:

Admissions Process

We hope this step by step guide will help you understand the Bowbrook House School admission process.

Mrs Heaume, our School Registrar will be your first point of contact and is happy to answer any questions you may have. Mrs Hodgson as School Secretary or Mrs Hunt as School Bursar can also sometimes be of help if Mrs Heaume is not available.

Step 1: Initial enquiry

If you are considering Bowbrook House School as the school for your child, or would just like some more information, please contact the Registrar on charlotte.heaume@bowbrookhouseschool.co.uk or please complete the Pupil Enquiry Form below.

For initial enquiries, we will ask for your contact details and find out what you are seeking for your child or children. We would like to know the age(s)/year groups and a little bit of family background to understand the nature of your enquiry.

If you have completed the SEND Questionnaire, we do ask to see any professional reports prior to meeting with the Headmaster.

Step 2: Tour of the School

If you like the look of what Bowbrook House School has to offer, the most important thing for you to do next is to visit the school to get a feel for it and decide whether it is an environment which feels right for your child.

We strongly suggest that the tour is done without the child/children present at this stage. It allows for a more ‘open’ discussion and fact finding tour.

Tours are generally with Mr Allen, the Headmaster and will include most areas of the school that will be applicable to the age of the child in question. We always endeavour to give prospective parents the chance to meet pupils, look at work and talk to staff on the tour. Tours normally take place on three mornings each week during term time but, if this proves inconvenient, we will do everything we can to arrange a day and time to suit.

If the Headmaster is not available, Mrs Ridge as Head of Prep School, or Mrs Heaume as Registrar can often deputise, although we will endeavour to ensure you meet Mr Allen, the Headmaster, at some point on the visit.

To book a personal tour, please contact Mrs Heaume via phone +44 (0) 1905 841242 or by e-mail at charlotte.heaume@bowbrookhouseschool.co.uk

Step 3: Taster days

No child is admitted until they have successfully completed at least two full taster days, sometimes longer at the request of the school. At this stage references will be requested from the pupils current school. The Headmaster or Deputy will then feed back to the parents following the taster day(s).

Step 4: Formal offer

If both the school and the parents are satisfied, the school will write to the parents with an offer of a place, asking them to confirm their acceptance of a place for their child by returning the accompanying Registration and Acceptance Forms together with the relevant fees and deposit.

The Acceptance Form is attached to a copy of the School’s Terms and Conditions which will form the basis of the formal offer.

Step 5: Registering your child

Once you have finalised your decision, please complete and return the Acceptance Form with the necessary deposit. Parents should be aware that in year groups of high demand, offers will be time limited. Mrs Hunt as School Bursar takes over the admissions process at this point and would be your first point of call on ruth.hunt@bowbrookhouseschool.co.uk although Mrs Heaume will still be on hand to answer questions if that helps.

Step 6: After registration

Once you have registered with us, we will keep in touch with you every step of the way. Further ‘tasters’ can be arranged, invites to concerts and fetes will follow and of course the Summer Camp is a good ice breaker if the children are between 4 – 12 years of age.

Our staff ensure that new pupils are made to feel really welcome from day one of their time at the school. Depending on their age, this might include another pupil being allocated as their ‘buddy’ to help them find their feet. Our parent body, the Parents’ Committee are equally welcoming to new parents and there are plenty of opportunities and events for new Bowbrook House School families to immerse themselves quickly into the school community.

By completing the forms on the page, you are confirming that you have provided all relevant information and that you understand that:

  • The school will process your data and that of your child, including sensitive personal data such as medical details, to administer its list of prospective pupils and its selection procedures.  You understand that processing personal data about you and your child, including sensitive personal data, is necessary for these purposes.  This will include the school requesting an obtaining a report from your child’s current school as part of the school’s selection procedures.  Further information about how we collect, use and protect personal data can be found in the Privacy Notice on this website.
  • If you child is offered a place at the school, the offer will be subject to the School’s Term’s and Conditions for the provision of educational services, which will bind you if you accept the place upon signing the forms and agreeing to the School’s Terms and Conditions.
  • Transparency with both documentation and communication is required to assist a smooth transition. Any false or misleading information will permit the school to withdraw the offer of a place and terminate the contract.
