Arts Week has been launched!

All pupils are expected to enter into a minimum of 2 competitions (S11 one) and details are attached. From story writing to animation, photography to song, the pupils were introduced to all the categories this week.

Bowbrook’s Got talent will happen on the Wednesday of Arts Week as well as a curriculum alive day when we collapse the timetable and have a circus of activities and workshops for the day.

Please see the attached flyer opposite and watch out for further publicity and events to do with:
Arts Week: 13th – 17th Feb 2023.

Family Art morning:

As part of our Arts week, we will be holding a Family Art morning for children from Nursery to J6 on Saturday 11th February. Families are invited to drop in and join us for a morning of art activities between 10am and 12 noon. As it is an event for families we ask that parents stay and join in the activities with the children. Friends and family are also welcome!

French Exchange – Final appeal – surely you ‘could’ host!

Many thanks to those parents who have offered to host a French student in May. Apologies that it has taken some time to clarify arrangements. Please find attached letters with key information for those hosting or hosting and visiting in May.

There are a few French students who still do not have a confirmed host family. Please get in touch with Mr Whittingham, if you would be able to host one of the French students from the 8th to 12th May, even if your own child would be unable to make the return visit (24th-28th May).

Business Studies S10 & S11:

Year 10-11 Year 10 and year 11 visited the Wall’s factory in Gloucester this week. The day started with a business lecture. They had a mini science lesson on the making of ice-cream and then did some economics.

In the afternoon we had a guided factory tour and got up, close, and personal to some popular brands of ice-cream. At the end of the tour BBHS students were given an entire chest freezer full of ice-cream to eat before leaving the site and Wall’s merchandise.

A fantastic, educational and enjoyable trip.

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang

Several of our pupils are involved in this production and have asked if we could advertise it on their behalf.  They have given me a few A5 fliers and asked if they could be displayed in school and they also asked if it could be in the the e-news? Break a leg guys!

PE Department News

District Cross Country

On Monday, 12 students made their way to Prince Henry’s High school in Evesham to take part in the district cross country competition.

Representing the school superbly, on the undulating cross-country course, we are pleased to announce that all 12 students have qualified for the next cross country meet, at Bromsgrove School, where they will represent their district in the county championships.

Along with qualification there were personal successes with Mya and Luca both finishing in 4th place in their races and Noah finishing in 1st place in the intermediate boy’s category.

Well done to all who ran and good luck for the next round!

U14’s Boys Football vs Malvern College

Malvern College travelled to Bowbrook to play the U14’s first football match. During the first half the boys defended well keeping the score at 0-0. Cameron J was working well between the posts neutralising all shots on target. Myles L was commanding his team like a general in war, shouting instructions to his soldiers.

The whistle blew for the second half and Malvern came out fighting. Tom W missed by a fraction with a well-timed header but was rewarded 5 minutes later with a goal. Malvern fought back and drew level. In the dying minute if the game, Malvern managed to grab a late goal that trickled across the line.

All the boys played with determination and respect. Well done!

Students should check the PE notice board to see if they are involved in fixtures.
