PE Department News 26.04.24

We have had glimpses this week of what Summer Term is all about; the field is dry, the sun has shone (at least at times!) and cricket fixtures have gone ahead as planned.  All in all, we have had a very productive week as outlined in this week’s edition of the Bowbrook News.  Next week sees the start of the GCSE Exam season, kicking off with French speaking on Monday, followed by Travel and Tourism on Friday.  S11 Have one final week of lessons before they embark on study leave so it will be a week of focus and final preparations.
We are all rooting for you, S11!

This weeks Bowbrook news

House Chess Competition

The hotly contested House Chess Competition has drawn to a conclusion with Juliette Mawby (S10) taking the title for Waterloo in a thrilling and exceptionally close final against Tom Land (S11) of Hastings.  Well done to all who took part, win or lose.  It was a great challenge and there are clearly some strategic masters out there!

Well done to Tai Camadoo (M7) of Blenheim who came 3rd and was ‘Best of Middle school’.

Sustainability Workshops and Celebration of Earth Day

Year 8 enjoyed a cross-curricular science and geography trip to the Hive in Worcester to take part in their sustainability workshops and celebrate Earth Day. They completed a “book blitz”, thinking about how front covers are designed to grab the reader’s attention, and how different books appeal to different people. Next was a challenge to use the library search system to find books about sustainability to inspire the creation of a postcard.

Finally, Severn Waste Services delivered an interactive presentation to bust some myths around paper recycling, and showed us how we could make our own wrapping paper using a blender!

News from the Prep School

This week Year 1 and 2 were invited to Pershore Cricket club along with 7 other schools to experience a morning of cricket skills. The pupils looked very smart as they set off and reportedly had a fun time.

This week Nursery/Reception took our assembly which was all about diversity. The Star Pupils for this week are:

  • N/R - Isabelle McElroy for good writing.
  • I1 - Jonas Ford for amazing D and T skills building a Pudding Lane house.
  • I2 - Iris Cates for using personification and alliteration.
  • J3 - Eva Parkes for being such a good news reporter.
  • J4 - Sienna Comens for brilliant work interpreting data on charts.
  • J5 - Jemimah -Faith Clarke for an awesome start in Year 5.
  • J6 - Maria Parkes for being conscientious in all she does.

Well done everybody.

We also commended Meghan and Hollie Harris for representing Bowbrook at the King’s Hawford Equestrian Show where they both won rosettes – well done girls.

Have a lovely weekend.
Mrs. Ridge
