U11’s Cricket vs Bredon

Monday saw the U11’s take on Bredon school in their first cricket game of the year. Bowbrook were fielding to begin with and immediately started of the day well with some good accurate bowling from Alfie and Tom. As the first innings went on the Bowbrook team grew with confidence when bowling and fielded well to shut down some good shots played by the Bredon team. The Bowbrook team finished their Bowling innings with Bredon having a score of 239.

Coming in to bat, the Bowbrook team did well to chase down the score line set by Bredon. Some good batting displays from Dan and Josh saw the Bowbrook teams run rate increase quickly, however, in their impatience and want to hit boundaries, the team fell victim to a couple of close-range catches and saw the run rate decrease quickly. The game remained in close contact and the team needed 9 runs from the final over to win. Two good shots from Alfie saw 4 runs added to bring the score line to 5 runs, but quick fielding from Bredon saw another catch made and the score line slipped away from the team.

A close game of cricket between the two schools and some excellent cricket on display. The Bowbrook team will take away some key learning points from the game and we look forward to the return fixture after half term, and the next fixture against Heathfield to continue developing the cricket game management.

U15’s Cricket vs Stafford
On a bright and sunny day in Staffordshire, an exciting U15 cricket match was played between Stafford Grammar and Bowbrook House. The match took place at Stafford, with both teams keen to put in their best performances.

Stafford Grammar won the toss and elected to bat first. They got off to a great start with their opener, an England player, retiring on 55 runs. The rest of the batsmen contributed with some good shots, and Stafford managed to score 104 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in their allotted 16 overs.

Bowbrook House came into the game with a lot of confidence, but their batting started off slow. However, they soon picked up the pace and started scoring some valuable runs. But Stafford’s bowlers were on top of their game. They picked up wickets at regular intervals and restricted Bowbrook to just 46 runs, all out, after 16 overs.

The player of the match as judged by the Stafford players was Charlie C. He played a crucial role with some powerful and accurate bowling. Ed C took 3 wickets, Theo M took 2 and Guy V also had an impressive outing, taking one wicket with his bowling and stumping another with his quick reflexes behind the bowling wickets.

In the end, Stafford Grammar emerged victorious by a comfortable margin of 58 runs. It was a well-deserved win for the team, as they put in a solid all-round performance. Both teams showed great sportsmanship throughout the match, and the players displayed their love for the game with their enthusiasm and passion.

Overall, it was a great day of cricket, and both teams can be proud of their efforts. They played in great spirit and showed that cricket can be an exciting and enjoyable game, even at the U15 level.

U14’s Cricket vs Heathfield
On a sunny Thursday afternoon, Peopleton Cricket Club played host to an exciting U14 cricket match between Bowbrook House and Heathfield. Both teams had a point to prove in this game and the spectators were eagerly anticipating an exciting encounter.

Heathfield won the toss and elected to bowl first. Bowbrook scored 65 runs off of 16 overs, with Archie H scoring three fours and Charlie C scoring one four and one six. Heathfield needed just 10 overs in reply and managed to score 67 runs for 4 wickets, resulting in a win by 2 runs and 6 overs. The player of the match as judged by the Bowbrook team was Albert B, keeping wicket and showing safe hands when stepping in for Cam J.

This game was an exciting fixture and a great advertisement for U14 cricket. Both teams played well and the match was a close contest up until the last few overs. It is hoped that both teams will continue to play with such enthusiasm and sportsmanship in the future.
