News from the Prep School

Welcome back to the new Spring Term. Pupils have returned full of enthusiasm and with a great attitude. This week our youngest members of the Prep School had a fabulous French day. Looking the part and tasting the French cuisine, I was impressed with the use of the language also. Thank you to Mrs Mao and Miss White for organising this. Our Prep assembly on Thursday revisited ‘British Values’ and what these are and how they influence our lives.

Our star pupils this week are:

  • N/R - Isabelle McElroy for super work in maths.
  • I1 - Jonas Ford for super phonics work.
  • I2 - Elina Woodward for super reading.
  • I2 - Elina Woodward for super reading.
  • J3 - Ariel Lewsey for a brilliantly positive start to the term.
  • J4 - Rory Mason for an excellent positive start.
  • J5 - Orla Dunne for being a kind friend.
  • J6 - Maria Parkes for being a thoughtful friend.

Congratulations to the following pupils who completed Miss Tait’s Christmas Reading Challenge: Ruth Drakeley, Harry Stephens, Luca Carmine, Ariel Lewsey, Eva Parkes and Daniella Bille.

As the weather has turned much colder this week all pupils should be coming to school with their warmer waterproof jackets over their blazers and have their school hats, gloves and scarves please. All named.

Have a lovely weekend.
Mrs. Ridge

Paris trip update

Thank you to all those parents who have now paid in full and a gentle reminder to those who have yet to pay the final instalment – our final payment to PGL is due today.

We should shortly receive a schedule for our visit and I will be holding a meeting for parents and students as soon as the finer details are finalised.

In the meantime, if you are not intending to travel abroad with your child between now and the 22nd March, could I ask that you hand in your child’s passport and current EHIC / GHIC card at the school office. Some of the details are needed to complete the paperwork and it would be helpful to be able to do this well in advance. Passports and insurance cards will be kept safely in school until needed for the trip.

Mr Whittingham

Malta Update

Thankyou all for your efforts with ensuring the payments are coming through in preparation for our tour to Malta (10 weeks from today!) A reminder that school fees do also need to be up to date prior to attendance on the trip!
Any queries then please contact Mrs Hunt to discuss.

Music Enews

Music Stars of the Week: Congratulations to Laura Harding, Tom Land and William Duckworth who have achieved pleasing marks for their recent GCSE assessment performances. All three students have shown great progress in this area and it was really very enjoyable to hear their final pieces. Well done Year 11!

Instrumental: Lessons have returned this week. Please contact me if your child hasn’t received their individual timetable. A gentle reminder that students from Year 6/7 and above should be making their own way to their lesson in the Music pod each week.

Extra-Curricular:  A reminder that Music extra-curricular is paused for this half term until after the production with the exception of Miss White’s new Recorder Club and Jazz Group.

Thank you
Mrs Izod

Charity Clothes Collection On THURSDAY 25TH JANUARY at 9am

Rags 2 Riches for schools will be making collection at school, so please support it again and now more than ever these clothes and items are desperately needed.

A great opportunity to sort out your wardrobe before the winter. There was a good programme on the BBC about what happens to the clothing if you are interested:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/articles/3NCQT8fPDn9KfbLGmqqGZvF/the-secret-life-of-your-clothes which can be watched on YouTube.  The clothing becomes affordable clothing around the world, we sell the clothes on – as an example some of the clothing will then be sold on market stalls in Africa.

The Rags 2 Riches bags will be sent home next week but please feel free to use normal bin bags as well!

Have a good weekend everyone!
