Summer Term Newsletter Friday 5th May 2023
It has been a busy four days and in particular a very lovely atmosphere around school today. Led by the Prep School and their curriculum Alive day with all things ‘coronation’ and then our mass picnic lunch in the marquee and the Infants and year 6 singing the coronation song. Lots of images posted on Twitter and will appear on Facebook too I’m sure… Year 1/2’s assembly will also come out with a you tube link so parents can see what a marvellous week we have had… Have a great coronation weekend! And good luck to the ten pupils in Year 10 who are completing a gruelling practice bike ride for their Silver D of E!

News from the Prep School
The Prep School were thoroughly entertained this week by Year 1 and 2 in their
informative assembly. They taught us all about different English terms with some fun
songs to help remind us of their meaning. We then had a fabulous Curriculum Alive
morning on Friday where all of the pupils were involved making and creating
Coronation themed crafts. At lunchtime we joined up with our Middle and Senior
school for a celebratory picnic in the marquee – a fabulous start to the Coronation
weekend.
This week the Prep Star Pupils are:
N – Skye Worth for good listening.
R – Eretria Bolt for being kind and helpful to others.
I1 – Pippa Jo Houston for super fractions work.
I2 – Ariel Lewsey for fabulous focus in our class assembly.
J3 – George Stephens for trying hard and increased resilience.
J4 – Jack Jones for great contributions to all lessons.
J5 – Harper Hartwell for approaching all work with a positive attitude.
6NS – Bea Meikle for showing awesome resilience.
6SR – Bea Heaume for a super piece of homework about Black Holes.

Music news:
Music Star of the Week: Well done to Mustafah Ahmed in Year 9 this week who
has composed a strong, catchy and memorable Riff on his electric guitar as part of
his composition work this week. Mustafah was confident to perform his work to the
class and received a great round of applause! Well done 9JS – your focus and Pop
and Rock riff compositions have been really exciting.
I would also like to mention Albert Blinston in Year 9 who I caught rehearsing some
marvellous Jazzy duets on the clarinet this week with our peripatetic teacher Mrs
Hughes – what a super sound!
Music Extra-Curricular: ….has started this week. Please could any Junior Samba
Drumming Club slips be returned ASAP.
Orchestra will return to normal next week after school on Tuesday, as will Junior
Recorders, Junior Samba Drumming and Upper Chamber Choir on Friday. A
reminder that unfortunately, Rock Band can no longer run this term.

French Exchange:
The French students are now due to arrive at school at 7pm on Monday, 8th May.
Parents should have received a text to inform them already. If you did not receive a
text, please inform Mr Whittingham by email. Mr Whittingham will also use this text
distribution to update parents during our stay in France. Please do not reply. The
number is available in the case of emergencies.
Timings for French students;
Monday 8th May; 7pm arrive at school
Tuesday; Normal time; trip to Cadbury / Stratford 5pm; return to school
Wednesday; Normal time; trip to Bath 6pm ; return to school
Thursday; Normal times (in school)
Friday, 12th May; 7.45am to leave school by 8.00 am
ISA Midlands Senior Athletics
In an impressive display of athleticism, Bowbrook House pupils have proven themselves to be a formidable force at the ISA Midlands Senior Athletics Championships held on Wednesday in Leicester. The school brought home numerous medals – some gold, some silver, and some bronze – displaying remarkable skill and determination on the track
and field.
The pupils’ incredible performances were a testament to their hard work and
dedication, showcasing their exceptional abilitiy to compete at the highest level.
Despite facing stiff competition from other schools, Bowbrook House pupils showed
no signs of intimidation and remained focused on achieving victory.
Their success was not only due to individual talent but also to the school’s
collaborative and supportive culture. Led by their dedicated PE teachers, the pupils
were motivated to push themselves to their limits, and their outstanding results bear
testament to the effectiveness of their training. In conclusion, the Bowbrook House pupils’ success at the ISA Midlands Senior
Athletics Championships is a testament to their hard work, commitment, and
determination. Congratulations to all medallists, and well done to all who
participated. The future looks bright for Bowbrook House athletics, and we look
forward to following their further success at the Nationals at Alexander Stadium in
June.

they are involved in fixtures.
