Year 9: Beyond COP21 Symposium at MSJ

It was an absolute pleasure to take 12 Year 9 pupils to MSJ for a day of diverse workshops associated with climate change, sustainability and ethical thinking…From animal conservation to fast fashion and electric vehicles…even sifting through owl pellets! Some of the lectures were ‘long’ but they held their attention and kept engaged. Well done, Year 9! AND … two of the exhibitors commented on how engaged and polite our pupils were!

Music Enews

Carol Service – Our Carol Service this year will be taking place on Thursday 4th December at Pershore Abbey with a full rehearsal during the school day. Please look out for a letter coming home with students very soon. It is expected that all students between Years 3 and 9 attend; they are involved in several choir pieces. Many senior students are also involved in Chamber Choirs, Orchestras, Prefect duties and are already participating however, if seniors are not directly involved they are encouraged to attend to support the school.

Lower Chamber Choir – Miss White will not be able to run Chamber Choir on Monday after school; apologies. Choir will therefore not take place next week.

Upper Chamber Choir – We will be rehearsing until 5.30 for the next few weeks to prepare for our Carol Service. It is no problem at all if your child needs to leave at 5pm; thank you.

Thank you
Mrs Izod

D of E presentation Assembly

Due to technical difficulties, the Duke of Edinburgh presentation assembly on 18th November has been postponed until the spring.  New date to follow.

News from the Prep School

What a great start to the week with Danny Butler, the GB Athlete, dropping into Bowbrook to give an inspirational talk and show us a few tricks on his bike.  The children all then enjoyed some time with Danny to complete their fundraising challenges – we will let you know how much was raised next week.  Thank-you to Mr Swain for organising this special event.

The corridors are full of the sounds of Nativity songs – the children have begun rehearsing – Infant staff will be sending out more information next week.

Another super Stay & Play with children doing autumnal activities in our Forest School.  It is on for the next two weeks and then will start again in the Spring term.

Thursday Year 6 did their class assembly all about Victorian Britain.  They sang, danced and narrated several scenes, bringing history to life.  We were very proud of them all, speaking in front of the whole of Prep School, as well as our Year 6 parents.  The children displayed their learning to share with parents too –  Victorian games, photographs of Victoria sponges, Victorian workhouses, diaries, sketches etc.  In addition, Joseph treated us to a fab rendition of Interstellar by Hans Zimmer.  Mrs Perkins, our piano teacher, has plans for other Prep children to perform in assemblies this half term so watch this space!

Our Stars of the week this week are:

  • N/R - Charlie - for making good choices
  • 1/2 - Lottie - for being kind and helpful
  • 1/2 - Lottie - for being kind and helpful 3/4 - Emily - for always being super positive
  • 5 - Luca - for great focus in lessons
  • 6 - Joseph - for performing a piano piece in our assembly
We are all really looking forward to Mrs Mills and Miss White’s Family Art morning tomorrow in the hall from 10am – 12pm.

We have Vicky, from HSBC, coming in to do workshops with our Prep classes on Tuesday and, of course, we will be observing a two minute silence for Remembrance Day also.

Have a lovely weekend all.
