Easter Raffle and Donations
Details of the Easter raffle and donations were sent home via students this week. Tickets are £5 per strip and can be returned in the envelope with your name written on the tickets via your child’s form teacher, as can chocolate donations. It is always an exciting part of final assembly. Good luck!
Chocolate Bingo – Sold Out!!!
Next Week’s Chocolate Bingo is now SOLD OUT!! There has been fantastic support for this event and we look forward to seeing many families there.
Uniform Standards
We all endeavour to take pride in both our work and appearance. The uniform policy is there to support everyone for clarity, consistency and avoid unnecessary sanctions and is available in the parents handbook. Regretfully, it has been noted that make up is being worn, skirts are appearing shorter and hair is not always back from the face. This is a timely reminder that uniform checks do happen, as well as equipment checks. Please can we all be mindful of our standards and work together in maintaining them. We really appreciate parents support with this. Thank you.
Music E – news
Extra-Curricular changes next week: Please note that Lower Chamber Choir and Orchestra will not run next week; many apologies in advance. Mrs Izod is unable to run these rehearsals on Monday and Tuesday after school. All music clubs will run, however, on the final week of term as normal.
Music Star of the Week:
A belated congratulations to Mabel Phillps and Penny Mills in J6 for their wonderful song composition entry as part of Arts Week. Both winners composed a beautiful piece which followed the theme of ‘enriching the mind’ and positive mental health. Very well done to both girls!
Science E-News
Mr Brooks was delighted this week with Claudia Evans and Molly Neale of Year 10, who were able to successfully distil food colouring to obtain pure water. This experiment requires a great deal of care and attention to detail and even then there is often to guarantee of success. A great effort, well done!
French E-News
Please find attached a letter detailing an upcoming meeting for parents regarding the French exchange on 28th February.
Last week Mrs Smith brought her J3 pupils to a year 9 French class to conduct a survey about school subjects. Both classes enjoyed speaking French together. Credit to both sets of pupils for their excellent use of the language. It was lovely to see the interaction, support and encouragement.
News from the Prep School
Happy St Patricks’ Day from J5 who treated the prep school to a fun assembly celebrating everything Irish! The pupils went back in time and retold the story of St Patrick with an entertaining video. There was a rude disturbance from a leprechaun who ran through the audience to a pot of gold. They rounded it off with an upbeat Irish jig!
Iris’s Flat Stanley has been out and about in London this week. Years 1 and 2 are reading Flat Stanley’s Worldwide Adventures in our Literacy lessons. Stanley has also been to Japan and he recommended the sushi, which we’re making as part of our Japan topic.
Today (Friday) the prep school took part in a Holi, (the festival of colours) workshop led by Ms Govin, ably supported by Honni Jalal and Tom Grant of year 10. They listened to a short talk about how and why Hindus celebrate Holi, created a beautiful Samatavam Peacock, learnt how to do some bhangra, did some dressing up, and played Holi in the courtyard. The theme of the workshop was ‘We are all equal and celebrate our differences together’, as during Holi there is an emphasis on equality.

- 6NS – Poppy Stokes for working independently in maths.
- 6SR – Jonah Harris for his great attitude to school life.
We also commended Ryder Cassidy (N/R) for achieving his level 4 Duckling swimming award and Bobby Rushton (6SR) for his Bronze Stage 1 and 2 Life Saving awards.
Many congratulations to everybody.
Next week, the Prep staff look forward to meeting with all parents on Thursday, for our annual Parents’ evening. Your child should have come home with a letter which has your appointment time on it.

U11’s Football vs Holy Redeemer
The U11’s welcomed Holy Redeemer for a return fixture on Monday this week. Immediately team tactics had to change as the blustery weather made the game difficult to play and the Bowbrook team had to rely on keeping the ball on the floor for the first half against a strong wind. Holy Redeemer used the wind to their advantage, pinning Bowbrook into our own half and peppering the goal with shots. Half time came with a 3-0 score line to our opposition. The second half, with the wind behind our back, was a very different story. Bowbrook defended well and goal keeper Luke sent the ball deep down the pitch to keep the ball in Holy Redeemer territory. With fantastic through passes made by Alfie and Charlie, Josh found himself in on goal a number of times, staying just behind the offside line and bagged himself a couple of goals. The score lined became closer at 4-3 with seconds left on the clock but a quick breakaway from Holy Redeemer saw them slide one final goal in to bring the final score to 5-3. A fantastic game of football played by the Bowbrook boys in challenging weather, and a much-improved result from the previous fixture against our opposition. Well done to all who played.
U11’s Boys Football vs Tettenhall
The under-11 football team displayed excellent positional play but unfortunately they were unable to translate their performance into wins when they played four 10-minute games at Tettenhall College. Despite their excellent play, the boys were unable to get the result they wanted, as they lost each of their games by a narrow margin. However, due to their impressive display, the boys received many compliments from the other team. It was great to see the boys playing with such spirit and energy. They showed some excellent positional play and you could not fault their commitment and attitude, but unfortunately they could not get the result they wanted. They had chances throughout the four games and just lacked that extra bit of quality when they needed it. The boys can take heart from their performance and will look to apply the lessons learned for their next fixture on Monday at Stafford Grammar. We’ll done!
U15’s Boys ISA Midlands 6 a side Football @ Stafford Grammar
On a frosty Wednesday morning, teams from all over the Midlands descended upon Stafford Rowley Sports Ground for the U15 6 a-side Football Tournament. The tournament began early and the teams didn’t disappoint as the competition was intense throughout the day. Bowbrook House were amongst one of the first teams to kick off and they put on a fantastic show, with some dazzling attacking moves and strong defensive efforts. After some nail-biting finishes to their games, they were victorious in 2 of the 5 games in their group, ending in second place and qualifying them to play in the play offs. The play off for third was not an easy task, but Bowbrook House were well prepared and they played with some confident attacking moves and solid defending. After a hard-fought game, they emerged victorious and finished third overall, securing themselves a bronze medal for their efforts. The team have now set their sights on competing in the nationals in Ascot next week and are ready to take the challenge head on. Congratulations to the boys for their incredible performance.
