• Mr Allen: Headteacher of the Year
• Mrs Kimberlee: Outstanding SENDCo/SEN provision category
And last but by no means least:
• Mr Hunt: In the ‘Unsung Hero’ category.

My thanks to all pupils, parents and staff who took the trouble to nominate for these prestigious countywide awards.

We are Finalists (Final 3) in just one: The Headteacher/Principle of the year category. The awards dinner is on Thursday March 26th …I will keep you posted on the night through the school’s socials!

It has been another very busy week. Lots of fixtures, clubs and activities, trips out, Annie Jr cast party, 7 parental tours, 3 taster days and a successful Lockdown practice. The days are getting longer…and we had a brief glimpse of spring!

We hope that students all enjoyed the cast and crew Annie Jr. party on Thursday after school. Many thanks to you for all your contributions to the show and to the Parent’s Committee for providing the commemorative pins which students were awarded last night. If you were not able to come, please see Mrs Mills to receive your pin.
Until the next time!

News From the Prep School

What a lovely week in Prep.

We had a fabulous music Assembly this week, where many children from Years 5 & 6 put themselves forward to perform in front of the whole of Prep, plus parents.  We are so incredibly proud of them all – we had singers, violinists, a guitarist, a sax player, drummers and a pianist!  A big thank-you to Mrs Izod and our amazing peripatetic teachers.  Watch this space for a summer music assembly too – we have had lots of children coming forward already, even someone from our Infants who plays the drums!

Year 6  had a morning of curiosity at the Hive’s STEM festival.  They explored different things under digital microscopes, which was “so cool!”  It really was fascinating to magnify everyday things and makes you much more curious about our world!  We then had a great workshop all about geodesic domes and learnt why they are such a strong structure, followed by building our very own in teams.

Lots of clubs going on again this week plus our School Councillors are busy planning our end of year trip for Prep!

You should all have received a message about World Book Day on Thursday, where we invite all children (and staff!) to dress up as their favourite book characters.  We will have fun activities, guest speakers, a published author popping in (from Year 7!) plus a costume parade.

A plea from Mrs Hellawell – if you have any recycling at home please could you send it to the Infants for a topic related project.

Have a lovely weekend all and do check out our socials to see some of the fun this week!

In other news

Sorry to finish on a less than positive note…On Friday there was an incident at home time involving local residents, passing traffic and school traffic. The language and behaviour witnessed is completely unacceptable. I and Mr Mills spent some time with the police on Friday after school.

The police are going to be doing extra ‘drive throughs’ between 3.50 and 4.20 for the next four weeks as we suspect the situation with the 3 way lights is causing more traffic to turn left out of school – which is effectively single lane due to the parking opposite the lay by.

PLEASE do not arrive before 4.05 if you are Middles or Seniors.
Collect off site if at all possible and if age appropriate – but then please do park considerately.
If possible, leave arriving at school until 4.10 – 4.20/4.25. We will keep an eye on then until this time!
If you can stagger your pick up – please do!

Have a good weekend everyone.
