Year 6 evacuees

Year 6 pupils evacuated to Bewdley!

Year 6 pupils experienced the trauma of being an evacuee when they went on a visit to the Bewdley museum. Dressed as an evacuee the pupil have been experiencing life in the World War II. During History lessons they have immersed themselves in the topic learning what life would have been like during the Blitz.

They were drilled using gas masks, allowed ‘rations’ for the day and visited an Anderson Shelter. They are now planning to build their own Anderson shelter in the grounds of the school!

Mrs Ridge, the Head of the Prep School commented: “The experience truly brought History alive for our pupils and gave them a taste of how tough life would have been for the children then… for their grandparents.” She went on to add;”We are thrilled that the Headmaster has given us permission to build our own Anderson Shelter with the help of the parents and the pupils it will be a real thrill.”
