The Tait Museum of Egyptian Wonders by J3

Year 3 pupils from Bowbrook House School travelled back in time to explore Ancient Egypt. The children created pieces of writing, artefacts and information posters to transform their classroom into a museum. They dug up the history of famous archaeologist, Howard Carter, who discovered Tutankhamun’s tomb in 1922. They produced model pyramids, jewellery and Canopic jars, in addition to a large 3D map of the River Nile which they decorated and labelled with fun facts. They were seen by an impressive 94 visitors, including pupils, teachers and parents. Amelia (aged 8) said, ‘I loved being a tour guide and welcoming people into our museum’. 7-year-old Luca helped the younger children write their names in hieroglyphics and explained how Egyptians used pictures instead of letters. Class Teacher, Miss Tait was, ‘thoroughly impressed with the children’s’ hard work and immensely proud of how confident they were speaking and sharing their knowledge’.
