Please come to: A Night at The Museum!

Night at the Museum

The Prep school are so excited to invite everyone, friends and family too, to a Night at the Museum. Tickets will be available (free) for all from next week for our very special event –
Night at the Museum.

All welcome and do bring along grandparents and friends to this new event, where our children get to show you their fantastic project work.  It is going to be a lovely evening event from 4pm to 6pm – where Prep School is open across all classes, with lots of exciting things to see, as well as some additional interactive displays in our main hall from Years 7,8 and 9 with Mrs Farr and Mr Swain in attendance (although you may not recognise Mr Swain!)

We have some Year 10 volunteers to meet you, show you a map of our event and even walk around with canapés!

We look forward to seeing lots of you there!

Prep School News

We were so proud of our children that attended the ISA Athletics event this week and a special mention to Hollie and Oscar in J6 – Hollie for being 4th in the final on the track and Oscar for a silver medal in the shotput event.  Thank-you to Mr Swain, Mr Draper, Miss Looby and Mr Bury for supporting the children in having a fantastic day representing Bowbrook.

This week our Assembly was led by Infants – talking all about their toy timeline they’ve created, as well as showing us the toys they have designed and created.  The Stars of the week this week are:
  • Infants - Ryder for being an enthusiastic reader
  • Year 3 - Elina for being a kind friend
  • Year 4 - Olivia for her sporting achievements over half term
  • Year 5 - Oliver for fantastic design and technology skills for our home project
  • Year 6 - Willow for being a brilliant new addition to our class
Next week we will have a whole Prep transition session on Wednesday morning for the first lesson for our current children.  Miss Cox will have those children going into 1/2, Miss Tait will have 3/4, Miss Wanklyn will have the new Year 5 (to do some transitional activities for the new Year 5 teacher), Mrs Mao will have those going into Year 6 and Mr White and Miss Walley are going to have Year 6 going into 7.

We are busy preparing for our Summer Fayre and each class will be running their own stalls, alongside the PTA.

Infants -
Hook a duck

Year 3 -
Name the teddy

Year 4 -
Human fruit machine

Year 5 -
Sweet jars

Year 6 -
Teddy tombola plus face painting stall

Can we please issue a BIG plea for any unwanted teddies for our tombola for Y6, as well as jars filled with sweets for Y5.

Have a lovely weekend all.
Mrs Mao and Prep team

Summer Concert

Our concert this year takes on Wednesday 2nd July in the evening. We are very much looking forward to seeing you there. All children from Reception to Year 9 are involved and are expected to attend; this is a compulsory event in which the students contribute to their school community. Thank you for your support; the children have been practising hard and are excited to share their music with you.

Upper Chamber Choir Please note that Upper Chamber Choir will be finishing now at the later time of 5.30 as we lead up to the Summer Concert. Thank you to those that can stay that little but longer; it is perfectly fine if students need to still leave at 5pm. Thank you.

Lower Chamber Choir Following on from last week, Lower Chamber Choir will continue to finish at the later time of 5pm as we lead up to the Summer Concert.

Star of the Week: Oliver Peacop in Year 7 contributed brilliantly to Orchestra for the first time this week; using his aural skills carefully to accompany our classic 80’s piece.  Well done Oliver – great drumming!

Thank you
Mrs Izod

Art Room News

The Young Voices New Visions Exhibition opens this weekend and takes place between 8th – 30th June in the Cloisters at Worcester Cathedral. Entry into the exhibition is free and there will be hundreds of artworks from around the county to view, including ours. So, pop along, if you can between 10am-5pm, Monday to Saturday, and 1pm-3pm on Sundays! This year’s theme is ‘Courage’ and our KS3 students worked really hard last term to create a collaborative Cape of Courage, inspired by Post-Impressionism and the symbolism of flowers.

Art Room news
The external OCR moderator, Richard Long, visited Bowbrook this week to complete the GCSE Moderation of our year 11 students’ artwork. The work looked really exciting when on display and there will be a full exhibition, where everyone is invited, later in the term. Congratulations to all students and I look forward to results day in August to celebrate your successes with you!

French Exchange

Another successful visit to our French partner school, College St Vaast in Bethune from 21st- 25th May).  Students visited the school, La Couple history centre and planetarium, took a boat-trip through the Marais nature reserve, met the deputy mayor and climbed the town’s belfry. The evenings and all Saturday was spent with the French partner families. It was an exciting visit. Well done to all the students for taking part in the adventure. They were terrific ambassadors for our school abroad. I will add my thanks to Mrs Heaume and of course to Mr Whittingham in this his last? French exchange…we will try to persuade him to come back!!
