Summer Term Newsletter Monday 5th May 2025

Parents This Week
Music extra-curricular timetable
Reflections on Year 9 D of E
First full week of the summer term and the last full week in school for Year 11 who begin ‘study leave’ on Tuesday. GCSE exams have already started but the main exam window opens next week. This of course means Year 10 will be taking over some roles and responsibilities from next week.

An important week for Year 9 too with their Options Evening on Thursday…it continues to be a very busy start to the summer term.

My thanks to the continuing support of the Parents’ Committee. They have agreed to buy us two outdoor table tennis tables to be permanently installed on site. They also helped with our Nursery/Reception open morning of Friday as well as the ‘pre-loved’ uniform shop in the cabin on Friday…Thank you to all.

PCSO’s knife crime talk, trips to RAF Cosford, Bikeability sessions, boys and girls cricket fixtures and more D of E walks for Year 9… as I say, a busy start to the summer term
and some stunning weather!
Bikeability 2025

Prep news

What a gorgeous sunny week!  Lots of things going on in Prep….

We kicked off with Bikeability on Monday – Years 4 and 5 completed their Level 1 and received their certificates and badges in our assembly.  They were very sensible and praised for their good listening skills by the trainers.

Our Infants went swimming and had a great splash around in Pershore pool.  They will be continuing for this term in their groups.

Clubs started this week in Prep – Recorders, Tennis, School Council, Reading club, Just Dance, Lower chamber choir and cricket!

We welcomed our Stay and Play visitors back into Forest School – where they got to create art using nature.  We were very fortunate again with the weather.   We also welcomed our new children in for aNursery/Reception taster morning today – it was lovely to have them in and look forward to seeing them again soon.

Years 3 and 6 had a fabulous trip to RAF Cosford on Thursday, where they got to enjoy a Blitz workshop, sit in an air raid shelter, experience an aircraft 4D ride and go and see the oldest spitfire in the world!

Mr Mills kindly did a super Assembly on BILT (ask the children what this is – they should all know!) and Miss Tait gave out our certificates from this week.

Our Stars of the week are:
  • Infants - Roux - for improved attitude to learning
  • Year 3 - George - for being kind
  • Year 4 - Luca - for a positive start to the term
  • Year 5 - Rory M - for an excellent start to the term
  • Year 6 - Martina - for super English writing - creating an evacuation card using a formal register
Miss Tait has kindly shared a link to a Blue Peter badge for Music that is done online by parents.  Please visit https://www.bbc.co.uk/cbbc/joinin/bp-music-badge to complete the application. In the past, it has taken several weeks for the badges to arrive, hopefully this is enough time to get them before the summer holidays and enjoy all the perks and attractions!

Next week we welcome Miss Wade, a second-year undergraduate from the University of Worcester, who will be with us for the Summer term in Year 4.

Just a quick note to let you know that we are all coming in non-uniform on Thursday of next week – in colours red, white and blue, to celebrate the 80th anniversary of VE day.  The children are asked to bring in a £1 donation for the Royal British Legion.

Have a lovely bank holiday all.
