VE 80: Middles and Seniors
Drama ISA Midlands
The ISA Drama competition at Kings High, Warwick was a fantastic celebration of creativity and performance. The day showcased an incredible range of talent from all participating schools, with performances ranging from a magical retelling of Peter Pan to the quirky chaos of fairy washing-up bottle rockets. A huge congratulations to The Gunpowder Plot cast, who received glowing praise from the judges for their witty and clever portrayal of the historic event. A special mention also goes to IKEA, whose horror/thriller piece stood out as the only one of its genre in the competition. The judges were particularly impressed by the group’s comic timing and clear artistic vision. Each group brought something unique to the stage, and Miss Jones is immensely proud of every single pupil who performed. We now eagerly await the final results, which will be announced in June.
Well done to all involved!

Art Room News
Thank you to years 7, 8 and 9 who have worked very hard on the first of 4 Community Arts projects for the Summer term to create the vibrant and personalised decorations for our VE Day celebrations this week. The Street Party was filled with red, white and blue and the marquee certainly looked the part!
Wanted!: ‘Rocks and Pebbles’
If you have any smooth rocks and pebbles that you feel able to donate to the Art department for an upcoming project, could you please send them in with students. Size wise we are looking for them to fit comfortably into the palm of your hand (see photo and many thanks to Dan in year 8 for being a superb hand model!!)
Year 10 GCSE Art club
A reminder that year 10 Art students should be attending Art club each week to continue working on their coursework sketchbooks. Please remind students that Art Club is on during Tuesday lunch break and from 4-5pm on Thursdays.

GCSE Business E-news
On Wednesday this week the year 10 GCSE Business Studies group and Mr Mills visited the Wall’s Ice Cream factory in Gloucester. It was really cool (pardon the pun!).
We started off with an introduction to the origins of Wall’s and its progression through time (from sausage rolls!) to what it is today; a premier ice cream manufacturer and a subsidiary of Unilever. We were then lucky enough to have a discussion with the Chief Operations Officer who had a wealth of knowledge and experience both at Wall’s but also at Pot Noodle and Marmite factories! His knowledge of the impact of world events on Wall’s was both interesting and invaluable in putting some of our business topics into context.
This was followed by a tour of, and talk about, the factory and the production processes where Cornetto, Magnums, Twisters, Ben and Jerry’s and many other well-known brands of Ice Creams were being made in front of our very eyes. Did you know, they produce 400 Magnums a minute and 9 million a year in that very factory!!
We saw the famous Viennetta being built layer by layer, frozen and packaged in a few minutes from start to finish with not a single human intervention?
It really was a thoroughly enjoyable and equally valuable experience which ended with free access to a fully stocked ice cream freezer! Charlie R won this year having eaten 3 magnums and a full large tub of Ben and Jerry’s!!
Prep School News
What a wonderful week we’ve had!
We welcomed Miss Wade into Year 4 from Worcester University and she is really enjoying getting to know the children. We had another Stay and Play session in our Forest School and welcomed some new visitors – we are resuming again on 18th June for another 3 weeks.
Infants had a great time at a Cricket/Multiskills event at Pershore High School this week. They took part in a range of activities, alongside other schools, led by young leaders from Pershore School.
A huge thank-you to Mrs Webb, Mrs Morris and Mrs Taylor for providing a special VE day lunch for the whole school on Thursday. Thanks also to Mr Hunt and Mr Shearman for their support. A very special thank-you to Mr Clarke (Beau and Oakley’s grandad) for turning up in his 93 year old Rolls Royce, complete with a cocktail bar, to share with the Prep children. Mr Bury, who also volunteers for Severn Valley Railway, brought to school some 1940s propaganda signs and lots of flags and bunting. The children had a super time having their treats, followed by traditional games managed by Year 6.
