Well That Was a Week!
If you follow our social media feeds on facebook/instagram or Twitter you will already know of our success at this years’ Worcestershire Education Awards!
Winners of the Independent School of the Year for 2024, tops a very positive ISI report (publication due any day now) and starts the Summer Term off with such a positive feel.
Finalists in three categories, we narrowly missed out on STEM Project of the Year and on Headteacher/Principal of the Year…However to have been nominated and to have reached the final three in these categories too is in itself an achievement and fantastic recognition. But to win Independent School of the Year recognises the whole school community; pupils, parents and staff from all departments and is a recognition of our happy and hardworking community.

Bowbrook continues its track record of being an award winning school both in the County and Nationally at ISA! Make sure you tell all your friends.
Open day:
Thursday’s award ceremony was followed by a very positive Open Day on Friday. The pupils of Years 10 and 9 who acted as guides did us all proud. They are able to speak openly and honestly about their school experiences and about their individual journeys. They feel secure in their place in the school community and their contribution is valued. My thanks to all of them for their efforts on Friday and to all the pupils and staff that our visitors encountered. I am sure follow up visits will be on the cards for many year groups over the coming weeks.
As I say, a very positive start to the summer term… with so much more to look forward to over the coming weeks. Fixtures stat again this week for U7’s, U11’s, U13’s and U16’s. We have trips going out, the Junior Maths Challenge and ten school days left until study leave starts for Year 11 although French speaking and Travel & Tourism have exams before the Bank Holiday weekend. We wish all our Year 11’s the very best for their upcoming GCSE’s.
The Summer Term is well and truly off to a very positive start!
News from the Prep School
This week in our Prep assembly we were visited by Becky from the Severn River Trust. She talked to us about the water cycle, river wildlife and caring for our rivers. The following Star Pupils were awarded certificates for this week:
- N/R - Skye Worth for super work in phonics.
- I1 - Ryder Cassidy for super fractions.
- I2 - Adam Haines for super facts on the Great Fire of London.
- J3 - Luca Carmine for excellent mapwork in Geography.
- J4 - Olivia Speers for an excellent description of Whitby.
- J5 - Will Rush for awesome progress in maths.
- J6 - Ayla Wood for beautiful presentation of work.
Well done to everybody.
On Friday we also welcomed Ann Mulder from the HSBC into the department to continue her workshops on handling money.

Professional partnership with the University of Worcester:
As many of you know Bowbrook is very proud to be a partner school with University of Worcester. As part of this partnership next week we have Miss Green joining the Prep School. She is a student teacher from Worcester University who will be completing her placement with Year 5 and Mrs. Stephens. We all look forward to welcoming her to Bowbrook and I am sure Year 5 will look after her!
