Good Luck to S11!!

We would like to first of all wish S11 the very best of luck for Monday and beyond as they begin their final GCSE examinations.  The time has finally come and all of their hard work can be put to good use! We are very proud of them and they will naturally have a mix of emotions, from excitement, to trepidation, but we believe in them wholeheartedly. S11, work hard, answer every questions, take time to rest and relax between exams (not too much though – it is a fine balance!) and remember we are here to support and talk whenever needed. Our whole community wishes you the VERY best of luck!!

News from the Prep School

We have had a very busy week in the Prep School. On Thursday several of our Juniors represented the school at the ISA Junior Athletics tournament, we were delighted to come away with two Bronze awards; Anna Judge (J4) for Long Jump and Poppy Stokes (6NS) for High Jump – congratulations to everybody for taking part.

Our assembly this week was taken by Year 5, who thoroughly entertained us with their Eurovision theme. Thank you to all of you and Miss Tait.

Bowbrook does Eurovision 2023

Pupils in J5 put on a crowd pleasing performance in their Eurovision assembly. Sam and Luke took the audience around the continent visiting representing nations in Spain, Germany and Italy. They ended with a sing-off of last year’s Sam Ryder song to get the audience in the mood for Saturday’s big show. A great effort by all, and some fabulous costumes!

We commended the following Star Pupils:

  • N - Isabelle Mc Elroy for being a good friend.
  • R - Ryder Cassidy for better listening.
  • I1 - Iris Cates for being a super learning partner.
  • I2 - Hrry Stephens for being a super learning partner.
  • J3 - Aadil Haque for being mature and responsible.
  • J4 - Anna Judge for working extremely hard in Science.
  • J5 - Luke Drakeley for a fantastic sprint finish in his 600m ISA race.
  • 6NS - Ben Rollason for putting 100% effort into his presentatipn.
  • 6SR - Olly Peacop for an amazing piece of Science homework.

Well done to everybody.

We also commended Pippa – Jo Houston (I1/2) for receiving a fantastic collection of rosettes last weekend whilst horse riding in Wales. Also Amelie Laws (6SR) has gained her Grade 3 Modern certificate and Holly While (6SR) has achieved Level 7 in swimming.

Next week on Tuesday the Juniors will have workshops from Severn Trent Water linked with our Science curriculum.

Successful French Exchange
Bowbrooks French exchange

Our French partners and Mr Whittingham would like to say thank you to all host families for the wonderful time the French students had with us this week. They were taken aback by the warmth and hospitality they received.  It was a resounding success and a wonderful experience for all involved.

Our own visit leaves on the 24th May. Mr Whittingham would like to remind parents of those travelling to please hand in passports and GHIC cards as well in advance as possible, for our return leg.

ISA Midlands Junior Athletics

Another week another athletics event for the students of Bowbrook House but this week it was the turn of the year 4, 5 and 6 students. An early start and arrival at the venue gave the team lots of time to prepare for the day, get used to the surface of the track and warm up in preparation for a long day of athletics.

Throughout the day all students who came to the event gave their very best in the event they were selected to do, against tough opposition from other schools. During the sprint races we had 3 students who qualified from their heats to take part in the finals later in the day; Alfie, Harper and Amelie, followed by the year 6 boys and girls relay teams, also qualifying for the relay finals. The Bowbrook students can hold their heads up high with how well they raced and challenged the other competitors.

We came away with two bronze medallists in the event and a huge congratulations must go to Anna in year 4 for her long jump achievements and to Poppy in year 6 for her high jump. Both performed exceptionally well on the day to walk away with medals finishing in the top 3 out of the 28 schools in attendance. A huge well done to all who participated and represented the school impeccably.
