Spring Term Newsletter Friday 20th March 2026

Bowbrook Newsletter 2026

Open Day - Thank you

I know we ‘expect it’ of our pupils but they always turn up trumps as guides for Open day. Today, more than most, our visitors expressed their admiration and gratitude in equal measure for the pupils who showed them round. Polite, knowledgeable, honest and informative! Well done and all on Red Nose Day too!

Thank you all.

Art News

We have completed 2 successful year 11 evening workshops as the students begin the final countdown with only one lesson left before the last element of their controlled assessment. Keep up all of your efforts year 11, not long to go now!!

Last call for entries into the ISA Digital Art Competition, which are due by the end of term, Thursday 26th March. Do come and see Mrs Mills if you have questions or want to talk about your ideas.

Art competition 2026

If you love Sports and Arts, we also have an additional competition, to design the artwork for the covers of the ISA national sporting programmes. The deadline for this is Tuesday 24th March.

Music Enews

Congratulations to Ole Farmer in Year 7 who performed his first piano solo in assembly this week. Ole is preparing for the ‘Live Piano Competition’ which is part of the UK Schools’ Music Festival. This means that he will be representing Bowbrook School at the Angela Burgess Recital Hall in April; part of The Royal Academy of Music in London. This is such a fantastic opportunity and we wish Ole all the best for his performance. We are very proud and humbled that Ole will be representing our school.

Congratulations also goes to Joseph Price in Year 7 this week. He has passed his Grade 1 Piano exam with a Merit. A fantastic achievement Joseph; very well done indeed!

Thank you
Mrs Izod

Comic Relief

What a fabulous sea of red today for Comic Relief.  There were big queues from Infants today to soak the teachers in the stocks!
Thank-you for all your donations in Prep – the money will be collated with Middles and Seniors and split between two very worthy causes:  Comic Relief and the Meningitis Research Fund.

We had lots of visitors in today for Open Day and our children were great at chatting to them. We have had some taster children in this week in both Infants and Juniors and our children have, again, been very welcoming. Martha has decided to join us in Year 1 and has already made lots of new friends!

It’s been lovely to have some sunshine this week and we have been making the most of it:  looking for minibeasts, doing our Maths outside, performing our poetry on the pirate ship, doing teamwork games, creating maps and using compasses in forest school.

We were treated to a lovely assembly this week by Year 5 all about climate change.  The children gave an inspiring talk about how our little changes can make the difference to our planet.

Our Stars of the week this week are:

Our Stars of the week this week are:

N/R – Beatrice – for kind words
1/2 – Martha – for a great first week at Bowbrook
3/4 – Ben – for super fractions
5 – Francesca – for being a supportive friend
6 – Olivia – for writing a great story set in Argentina

Next week we have Poppy and Rosie in volunteering in Prep – they are two work experience students and the children are looking forward to having them supporting in their classes.   Year 5 are hosting the Easter Service this year in Peopleton Church and Years 1/2/5 are off to the Think Tank on Wednesday.  Thursday we have a whole Prep assembly celebrating our achievements, followed by an Easter egg hunt, organised by Miss White.

Have a lovely weekend.
