Bowbrook Newsletter 2026

Parents This Week
Sports Reports and Fixtures
Summer Fete 2026

Congratulations!

I would like to start by congratulating 2 pupils who have succeeded in National ISA competitions. Over 400 school’s Nationwide and we have a winner and a 2nd place, which is fabulous.

Firstly: Congratulations to Penny Mills who won first place in the Individual Performer’s Award in the ISA Drama KS3 category with her portrayal of Mrs Hennigan from Annie. Performing live at the national venue was a step up from the school production. Very well deserved, Penny!

Secondly: Congratulations also to Sally Soulsby came 2nd in the ISA National Digital Art competition (year 7/8 category)! More on this story next week from Mrs Mills with hopefully a copy of Sally’s entry.

For a small school, even by ISA standards, we really do ‘punch above our weight’ on the National stage.

To all who entered or who were put forward – well done for putting yourselves out there and for representing your school. We are very proud of you all.

Staff News

Miss Tait

After five fabulous years at Bowbrook, Miss Tait is off to pastures new at the end of this summer term.  We will miss her creativity, sporting prowess and love of dressing up as a Viking, Roman, Night at the Museum or even Tour de France; she is certainly a tour de force! We wish her well in her next endeavour.

Mrs Rose

Perhaps not known to so many but who has had a huge influence on a few. Mrs Rose has worked within the learning support team for the last five years, providing interventions and making a real difference to the pupils she has taught. We are certainly going to miss her and her humour! We wish her all the best in her retirement but I am sure she will be back next year helping with exam access arrangements!

Both Miss Tait and Mrs Rose have chosen the Teenage Cancer Trust for their ‘leaving donations’. If you would like to recognise the fantastic work done by these two valued members of staff, then please follow the link below (and don’t forget to Gift Aid!) Thank you!

Your messages will mean so much to both staff and your donations will help a very worthwhile charity!

Student News

Many Congratulations to Mabel Moore in J5. Mabel has achieved a Merit for her Grade 1 Musical Theatre exam which is a superb result; well done Mabel! A special mention goes to Penny Heaume this week who has independently worked her way around the Bass Guitar to perform a bass line with her Band. Year 8 are currently forming a Rock/Pop Band whereby students rehearse independently to prepare and perform a cover version of a Rock/Pop piece. Well done Penny!, superb contribution so far.

Polite Notice

As we move closer towards the Summer Concert, please could we have full attendance at extra-curricular clubs – thank you.

News From the Prep School

We have had a very busy week back after half term.  Lots of new learning, making new friends with taster and transition children, completing maths challenges, designing and building 3D theme parks, creating Faberge eggs etc!

Nursery and Reception had a lovely time choosing books and listening to stories on Wednesday this week at Pershore Library.  They brought back lots of super fairy tales and are planning a fairy tale dress up day – watch this space!

On Thursday we hosted a very successful STEM day at Bowbrook.  We invited eight local primary schools to send in their top Mathematicians/Scientists from Year 5, for a Maths Marvels and Science Superstars day.  Dave, Theo, Eva, Olivia and Florrie represented Bowbrook.  A huge thank you to our Maths and Science departments:  Miss Brookes set up two exciting Maths challenges in the morning for the groups to do, followed by two super Science challenges set up by Mrs Mason and Dr Butt in the afternoon.   The groups did brilliantly and had lots of fun!  Our Bowbrook team did exceptionally well – so congratulations to them!

Mrs Mills did an Art lesson with the Year 6 class this week – they are embarking on a three week project, which they are very excited about!

Our Assembly this week was led by Mrs Kimberlee, supported by two of the older children.  It was all about Understanding Autism.  The children discussed what makes us different – the way we look, the things we like to do and the things we need to help us learn.  Thank-you to Mrs Kimberlee and the children for this.
We also shared with the Prep children some fabulous nature photographs, that were the winning entries from our Nature photography competition..  Thank-you all for your efforts in this celebration of Sir David Attenborough.  There were so many really great entries.

Next week we will have Scholastic Book Fair running in J3 in the Junior block for three days, starting on Friday, 12th June at 3.30pm until 4.30pm, and then again on Monday and Tuesday the following week.  Please do come along to support this – the school gain vouchers to buy new books from the sales in the fair.

Finally, Stay and Play starts again on June 17th  – so we look forward to welcoming our families back.  Do let any new families know about our friendly get together in our Forest school on Wednesday mornings.

Have a lovely weekend all.
