End of term arrangements:
As we break up on Thursday and in attempting to avoid congestion on the drive, I
have amended our finishing times slightly:
Term Ends Thursday 30th March:
N/R at 2.00 p.m.
J3 – J6 at 2.30 p.m.
M7 – S11 at 3.00 p.m.
Any ‘siblings’ are welcome to stay with staff in their areas until the older family
member has finished so that both can be collected together.
Talking of the drive.
Apologies for this afternoon! It was a combination of Years 5 & 6 arriving back from
their trip to Think Tank at just after 4.00 p.m. and a car blocking the field car park!
We will attempt to keep the filed car park open now for the remainder of this term.
Certainly usable by anyone with a 4×4!
Student Voice:
The Prep School Councillors decided they wanted to know more about their
Headmaster! A ‘Podcast’ made by Years 5 & 6 is now available on the school’s

Parents’ Committee Plea:
Last call for chocolate items for the class hampers or for parents and children to buy
and return their raffle tickets for the end of term Hamper draw. There is still time and
to do so after the weekend.
Music Enews
This week’s ‘ Music Star of the Week’ goes to Ayana Govin in Year 9 who performed at the Marrs Bar in Worcester last week. She took part in the Worcester Competitive Arts Festival performing her own composition under the ‘Rock and Pop Song Writer’s Section’.
I hear that the talent was amazing, and that this was a wonderful opportunity to experience competing with other younger people who share the love of music. Ayana came 2nd place – Silver Award which is fantastic. Congratulations Ayana!
I hear that she will be returning there soon to perform again.
GCSE Music:
Our upper school musicians have also been working very hard this week. Lucy
Sinnott in Year 11 completing her final performances and compositions; writing a
‘Theme & Variations in B minor’ and a Film Score for a Spy/Thriller genre. Well done
Lucy!
Year 10 GCSE musicians have also been practising hard this week and have
recorded their first ensemble performance. What a superb sound – very well done to
Laura Harding, William Duckworth and Tom Land.
Extra Curricular
Please note that Orchestra and Lower Chamber Choir can run as
normal next week. I am looking forward to seeing everyone there.

News from the Prep School
It was lovely to see so many of you at Parents’ evening on Thursday I hope that you
had informative meetings with your form teachers.
Our Thursday assembly this week was taken by 6SR who had each produced a
PowerPoint slide to inform us about their hobbies. What a talented group of children
we have!
The Star Pupils this week are:
N – Hudson Hartwell for fantastic ideas in maths.
R – Ryder Cassidy for lovely work n maths.
I1 – Elena Svencara for being so kind to her peers at playtime.
I2 – Daniela Bille for great behaviour in lessons.

J5 – Luke Drakeley for a fantastic explanation of Ancient Sumer farming.
6NS – Mabel Phillips for being a kind and thoughtful friend.
6SR – Charlotte Meikle for an improved effort in her classwork.
We also commended George Stephens (J3) for achieving his level 3 swimming
award.
Reading Awards:
Many of our pupils have reached their Accelerated Reader targets this week, which
is great news. Well done to the following pupils: Adam Haines, Oakley Clarke, Beau
Clarke, Aadil Haque, Adam Baker, Oscar Birch, Rosalie Bolt, Alfie Birch, Jess Darby,

Think Tank:
On Friday, Year 5 and 6 had an amazing educational visit to the Thinktank in
Birmingham where they were forensic investigators, attempted Cauldon Chemistry
and had an amazing animals workshop.
Easter Service:
Next week, we will be attending Peopleton Church for our Easter service on Tuesday
and have our annual Easter Egg hunt on Thursday before breaking up.
Prep School Disco:
And if all that was not exciting enough the we also have our Prep Disco on
Wednesday evening 4.00 – 515pm for all year groups N – Year 6.

U16 Netball v Kingham Hill
The U16 girls took on Kingham Hill School on Wednesday 15th March. Kingham Hill
got off to a flying start and scored in quick succession. Bowbrook playedcatch up for
the duration of the game and couldn’t seem to get the ball into their shooters.
Bowbrook defense Adelaide Clive, Alice Bates and Laura Harding had a tough job
but persevered and made some good interceptions. Molly Neale in centre and
Vanessa Bille worked hard in mid court. The final score 25-5 to Kingham Hill.
U14’s Football vs Stafford Grammar
In an exciting U14s football match at the Stafford Grammar grounds, Bowbrook
House was unable to overcome the opposition home team, eventually losing to
Stafford Grammar 1-0.
The match started off very closely, with both teams recording good chances in the
first quarter. However, neither side managed to find the back of the net, leading to a
scoreless first 15 minutes.
Second quarter play saw a shift in momentum, with Bowbrook House creating the
majority of attacking plays. They had numerous chances to take the lead, but were
constantly thwarted by the goal-stopping hands of the Stafford goalkeeper.
Scoreless for the second quarter, the match continued to a third 15-minute period.
The third quarter saw a huge shift in play when an own goal was scored by
Bowbrook House, putting their opposition in the lead 1-0. The own goal came as a
shock to the Bowbrook players as they had created almost all of the attacks and had
seemingly dominated the quarter.
The final quarter was scintillating as Bowbrook House pushed desperately to draw
the game. However, their numerous attempts could only be saved by the Stafford
Grammar goalkeeper, who played exceptionally well throughout the game.
At the end of a gripping four 15-minute quarters, the final score remained 1-0 in
favour of Stafford Grammar.
U14A Netball v Kingham Hill
In an evenly contested match, the U14 A team fought hard to secure a win at
Kingham Hill. At half time there was only 4 goals in it. Lottie Fairchild excelled in
centre court with some brilliant accurate feeding into to the goal circle. Sofia Merlin
and Rose Halligan fought to find space in the circle against a strong defence and
shot accurately. All the girls pulled together in the last quarter and the defence dug
deep, with some great interceptions, to stop Kingham from catching them.
Final score a deserved win of 32-27. Nominated player of the match: Lottie Fairchild
U14B Netball v Kingham Hill
The U14 B team had a great game against Kingham Hill. Bowbrook dominated from
the first centre pass and worked fantastically as a team. Ayana Govin was my
standout player, playing at Wing Defence she marked her player with confidence and
made some fantastic interceptions and moved the ball down to the attack. Heidi
Styles and Ellie Dean made a strong defence in the circle against Kingham and they
struggled to get an opportunity to shoot. At half time Poppy Arnold came on as
centre. She played confidently and was able to feed the two shooters accurately.
Final score 13-4 Bowbrook

ISA Midlands U11’s Tag Rugby @ Princethorpe
On Friday the U11’s tag rugby team took to the road to play in an all-day tournament
hosted by Princethorpe College. When the team arrived, they got themselves quickly
ready and warmed up with a tactics orientated warm up.
Arnold Lodge was the first team to face the Bowbrook boys and immediately the
team were put under pressure to defend against the speed of Arnold Lodge. It was
Arnold Lodge that scored the first try but Bowbrook responded quickly with fast
running from Josh. The teams traded tries with not one team able to break the
deadlock until Bowbrook managed to front up to the Arnold Lodge team and make all
6 tags. The final whistle blew and the first game was a victory to Bowbrook.
In the second game, Bowbrook played a very fast Crackley Hall team and resumed the try trade off that they had experienced against Arnold Lodge. Crackley’s experience told in this game with them managing to gain the one tag more than the Bowbrook team and the game
ended in a 8 tries to 6 loss. Next in the group was Tettenhall and here the Bowbrook team went back to winning ways with a 7 tries to 6 win with Sam running some good support lines to get the Bowbrook team into strong attacking areas.
With two games to go Bowbrook were looking strong with 2 wins out of 3 games. They faced Dixie Grammar next who immediately took the game to Bowbrook and made the Bowbrook boys have to stretch themselves wide in defence. Some valiant running and efforts from Max and Bobby found the team just drop short resulting in the second Loss of the day. In the final group game, Bowbrook came to life using all of the experience they have gained to get on top of the Crescent school side. Some fast paced tries from Tom and Dan got Bowbrook in the lead quickly and the hattrick from Ben saw this game finish in a 9 tries to 2 win against the opposition.
Despite a 3 wins out of 5 record, the way other fixtures played out and bonus points
earned by other teams, saw Bowbrook participate in the next round vs Mylnhurst in
a bid to finish as high as they can. Some good running lines from team captain Alfie
and efficient tagging from Charlie saw the game move quickly back and forth between
the two schools but ultimately, tiredness set in and Mylnhurst managed to get the final
try to win the game. A 50% win record for the day saw Bowbrook finish in 7th place
out of 14, and the team should be proud of the way they conducted themselves on
the pitch. Well done to all who participated.
U11’s A&B Football vs Stafford Grammar
Bowbrook House Under 11 A team drew 1-1 in an exciting game away at Stafford
Grammar. Josh S scored an early goal in the first half to give Bowbrook a 1-0 lead at half time, however, Stafford came out all guns blazing after the break and consistently tested
the Bowbrook defence by hitting the cross bar on numerous occasions. The Bowbrook defences eventually crumbled and with it came the equaliser for Stafford. Both teams then sought a winner but unfortunately that wasn’t to be as neither side could find the back of the net and the game finished 1-1.
The Bowbrook players were determined and should be proud of their performance, especially considering they were away from home and against tough opposition, who had beaten them previously. It was a classic game of two contrasting halves as Bowbrook
dominated the first, with Stafford counter-attacking to play through the second.
The U11s B team were defeated in a tough encounter against Stafford Grammar on the Astro turf. After a promising opening exchange of possession, Stafford managed to break the deadlock and score a goal against Bowbrook’s rigid defence. The boys showed a lot of determination throughout the first half but were eventually breached again towards the end of the period. Unfortunately, a deflection off of a Bowbrook House defender saw Stafford
Grammar take a four goal lead going into the break.
After half time, Bowbrook House had a different outlook, pushing their opponents back and creating several chances. Eventually, Luke D was able to add his name to the scoresheet with a well-worked goal, making the score 5-1 to Stafford. However, despite Bowbrook House’s best efforts Stafford Grammar’s superior experience and skill shone through, scoring a further goal without reply, resulting in a 6-1 defeat for the Bowbrook boys.
The boys can take comfort in their second-half performance, which was much stronger in comparison to the first. With some further fine-tuning and a few more fixtures under their belt, the Bowbrook House U11s will be prepared to take on their next opponents with much more confidence. Well done boys!
U11 A&B Netball vs Holy Redeemer
On a sunny Monday afternoon , Bowbrook House’s U11 netball teams, A and B,
played Holy Redeemer. The A side, started well with a few quick goals, but the
shooters were up against some tall defenders. The B side, however, faced a tough
start as they struggled to keep up with their opponents.
As the game progressed, Holy Redeemer’s defense proved to be too strong for
Bowbrook’s A side, causing them to make several errors and miss a few crucial
shots. Despite their best efforts, they found themselves trailing behind their
opponents, who managed to score a series of well-taken goals. Bowbrook’s A side
tried to recover, but it was Holy Redeemer who came out on top, winning the game
13-8.
Meanwhile, Bowbrook’s B side showed great determination as they fought back after
a shaky start. With some strong passing and accurate shooting, they managed to
close the gap between the scores. However, Holy Redeemer’s experienced players
proved too difficult to break down, and they too suffered a defeat with a final score of
11-7.
Despite the losses, both Bowbrook teams showed great sportsmanship throughout
the match, never giving up and playing until the final whistle. Well played girls.
ISA National U13’s Football @ LVS Ascot
On Tuesday , the U13 6-aside ISA National Football Tournament was held at LVS
Ascot. This was a great success with many teams across the country taking part in
the competition, which saw each team compete in three group matches of 10
minutes each.
Bowbrook competed in Group B and unfortunately lost their first two games in
the tournament before they managed to hold on and secure a goalless draw,
advancing them to the Plate Final games.
In the Plate Finals, Bowbrook put in a thoughtful and spirited performance but
were unable to find the goal they needed and lost the game 1-0.
Despite the loss, Bowbrook can take pride in the fact that they were playing in the
tournament with more experienced teams and are sure to win more plaudits and
trophies in the future.
The tournament was a huge success and a great way for teams of all abilities to
show their prowess. It proved once again just how important teamwork and dedication is for any team to succeed.
ISA National U15’s Football @ LVS Ascot
The Bowbrook U15 football team recently participated in the ISA National Football
competition at LVS Ascot, and although they put in a good effort, they unfortunately
didn’t make it past the quarter-finals of the Plate.
In the group stages, Bowbrook drew all three of their matches. The first game was a
goalless draw, with both teams struggling to break down each other’s defenses.
Bowbrook played well and created several good chances, but couldn’t quite find the
back of the net.
The second game was a close encounter, with Bowbrook taking the lead through a
well-placed penalty from striker, Rory. They defended their lead well throughout the
match, but unfortunately, a last-minute equaliser from their opponents meant the
match ended in a 1-1 draw.
The third game was another goalless draw, with Bowbrook once again looking strong
defensively and creating a few chances on the counter-attack. They were unlucky
not to convert any of their opportunities, but ultimately had to settle for a point.
Despite not winning any of their group matches, Bowbrook’s performances were
strong enough to see them qualify for the quarter-finals of the Plate. Unfortunately,
they were unable to progress any further, losing a tight match 1-0 to their opponents.
Overall, it was a valiant effort from the Bowbrook U15 team, who showed great
determination and resilience throughout the competition. While they may be
disappointed not to have gone further, they can hold their heads up high knowing
that they gave it their all.
Rugby honours:
We are delighted to hear that Will in year 10 has been selected to be a part of the RFU Midlands Rugby Developing Player Programme (DPP). The Midlands DPP is in place
of the Worcester Warriors programme that ran last season and is the next step in the journey for players looking to participate in academy level rugby. Will, who plays for Bredon Star rugby club outside of school, is now going to be training with the DPP side alongside his club commitments, and we hope that he continues to flourish in the academy side as a budding rugby union player.
