Crime & Punishment Day

Year 4 pupils from Bowbrook House School enjoyed an exciting trip to the West Midlands Police Museum as part of their history topic on Crime and Punishment.

The children were given a guided tour of the old Victorian police cells and were disgusted to hear that prisoners couldn’t flush the toilets! Eight-year old Luca found it interesting to learn how the cells changed over time from 1891 until its closure in 2016.

They dressed up in a host of different police uniforms and explored stories from the past, uncovering tales from two centuries of policing history.

Francesca and Daniela loved having their fingerprints taken and David said, ‘it was the best school trip he had ever been on!’

The pupils will continue their learning at school when they take on the roles of prisoners, jury members and judges in a whole day of hands on history to end the topic.
