In a week that started with medal success at the ISA National Skiing championships, had the Army in working with the seniors in PSHE, saw Roman soldiers in battle formation on the field, had plenty of sports success in six fixtures this week and ended with Year 11 Geographers in Birmingham for an urban study…It’s been another busy week at Bowbrook! The week doesn’t end there. We look forward to seeing former pupils from the 70’s, 80’s, and 2010’s at our diamond anniversary, 70th Ball, tomorrow night and of course plenty of current parents and staff too!
Mrs Farr is at it again...
We had ‘Doughnut Delay’ rewarding acts of kindness, we had ‘I’ve heard a Wispa’ chocolate for telling of deeds of friendship now, next Friday to acknowledge World Mental health day we have ‘feel all the feels’! (Think ‘Inside Out’ the movie…). All emotions are valid and all can be useful…
Music E News
School assemblies on a Tuesday are now hosting ‘Tuneful Tuesday’ sessions; a performance opportunity for our instrumentalists and singers in school. These won’t be every week but every few weeks, in order to give musicians a chance to share a piece which is ready and at performance standard, to manage their nerves, to gain plusses and receive praise from their peers. Georgie Dicken in Year 7 was first to perform this week, playing a duet with her violin teacher Mr Neville. What a fantastic first performance, one which the pupils and teachers very much enjoyed.
Thank you and well done Georgie! ….and thank you Mr Neville.

Art Room News
There has been lots of success in the Art rooms this week with year 8 finishing off their tonal compositions and exploring the work of British Pop Artist Patrick Caulfield.
There has also been a great attendance to the Tuesday lunchtime KS4 Art Club and after school workshop on Thursday.
A reminder that, due to parents’ evenings, the KS4 workshop will not take place now until after half term and will resume on Thursday 7th November.

News from the Prep School
What a great week the Prep school have had!
There’s been some fabulous French from the Infants this week – they have been busy learning how to introduce themselves in French – they are quite the linguists! The rest of the school has been very busy too – practising Harvest songs, writing in Hebrew, playing the ukelele, rehearsing for a Tudor play, amongst many other things.
We have loved receiving your super photos of the pets as part of our celebrations for World Animal Day – I know that in my class we have lots between us!

Our Stars of the Week in Prep School this week are:
- R/1/2 - Jonas - for a brilliant recount of the Titanic event.
- Y3 - Elena - for super effort with her writing.
- Y4 - David - for a positive start to Bowbrook.
- Y5 - Oakley - for fantastic ICT and typing skills.
- Y6 - Anna - for always giving 100% in all lessons.
Next week is another busy week. We have our Prep School Harvest festival on Monday at Peopleton Church, led by Year 6 and some of our Senior Prefects. There is another class assembly next week too, planned by Year 6 – a Tudor play with some very catchy songs!
On Friday we have our Prep School Curriculum Alive Day – which is to be linked to our whole school 70th Anniversary celebrations.
The children will be split into 3 groups across the age ranges from Nursery to Year 6. There are some fun and exciting activities planned for this day.
In addition, on the same day, the whole school will be joining in with World Mental Health Day – and everybody is invited to come to school in non-school uniform wearing colours to represent our emotions. Think Pixar’s movie, ‘Inside Out’…
A £1 donation will be collected on the day for Young Minds, an amazing charity.
n.b. World Mental Health Day is on the Thursday, but we will be holding our day on the Friday.
Just a polite reminder, if you’re dropping off your Junior child before 8.10am in the morning, could you ensure that they head to the Infants Playground, which is supervised from 7.50am. Juniors should not be going into the classrooms – they can leave bags in bag rack outside the block and head down or take belongings with them. Junior playground duty begins at 8.10am.
