Bowbrook Newsletter
The week started with a geography field trip to Carding Mill and ended with the Waka Waka for Mental Health… in between; Six sports fixtures, two assemblies, five parental tours, an S11 Parents’ Evening, ISA Senior Swimming and two Annie rehearsals. Never a dull day at Bowbrook!

The Mental Health Champions would like to thank everyone for their support this week in raising awareness of mental health and the work of Young Minds. In assembly on Tuesday we presented a little information about the work of Young Minds as well some advice on how to keep ourselves and others mentally healthy. Today on Hello Yellow day, Friday 10th October, we put a little of that into practise by starting the day together on the playground dancing to Waka Waka. Students from nursery up to yr11 and staff, including our catering team with their marigolds all enjoyed a boogie. Big smiles on many faces. Thank you all for joining in and again proving what a great team we are. We were very fortunate to have been offered the opportunity to have this filmed by a member of our local community so watch this space to see what fun |

With 11 school weeks to go until the school show, a big well done to everyone so far and we look forward to seeing you all at the rehearsals next week.
Could all students please remember to bring a folder to store paperwork in and a pencil for note taking.
Scripts, lyrics and information for next term will be sent home before the half term break.
Art News:
KS3 Art and Crafts Club: Year 7, 8 and 9 students are invited to attend Arts & Crafts club again next week to support the creation of our Bowbrook artwork for
Remembrance. I look forward to seeing you in the Art rooms at lunch break on Thursday.
In support of World Mental Health day on 10th October, students ‘made their mark’ on a collaborative sunflower artwork using finger painting. The piece was inspired by Post-Impressionist artist Vincent Van Gogh and his yellow sunflowers which symbolise light, warmth and emotional depth. A fitting outcome to support the mental health charity ‘Young Minds’. #helloyellow
Many thanks to Mrs Wilkinson and Lottie for the very generous donation of pumpkins this week which will be a key feature of the years 7, 8 and 9 seasonal drawing next week.
Finally, good luck to Max B, In year 9, whose artwork of ‘The Bowbrook House’ was
entered into the 2025 Midlands Schools ISA Art competition…. we will keep you posted on his progress!

The School has a squad with the NSEA (National School Equestrian Association) and we are just in the process of setting up a School Team with British Showjumping.

News from the Prep School
What a great week we’ve had! Dancing the waka waka today with the whole school (including all the staff!) on the playground for Hello Yellow Day was a particular highlight and lovely to all come together for a good cause.

Infants have been in Forest School doing Science lessons related to Autumn, Year 3/4 doing some Artwork in the style of Julian Opie (check out socials) and Year 5 have been moulding clay into different 3D shapes in a water resistance investigation, as well as exploring different clay techniques such as coiling, pinch pot and engraving.
Year 6 led a super Harvest festival and Mrs Izod was great in supporting with all the music. Year 6 children did a great job in telling us all about Harvest, leading prayers and the Year 11 prefects also came along to read a Bible passage. Do check out our socials for photos.
Years 3/4 did a fabulous class assembly this week all about Monsters, which linked with their literacy learning. They even produced a video and Mr Allen did a cameo – do check out socials to see it – it’s really good!

- 3/4 - Camilla - for a great attitude in swimming lessons
- 5 - Hannah - for her independence and determination
- 6 - Olivia - for always working really hard in all subjects
We had 3 new additions to our Stay and Play group on Wednesday, which was lovely to see. Thank-you to Mrs Geisler and Miss White for running this.
