Important Dates in the Run Up to Christmas
We have a busy and exciting couple of weeks ahead of us as we approach Christmas and the end of term festivities. We will continue to communicate details with parents and pupils. There will be some changes, there will be extra organisation required but there will also be lots of fun, opportunities to contribute and memories made!! If you are unsure of anything, please ask; we are always more than happy to help.
Donations for Christmas Fayre
We would be very grateful for donations of bottles and chocolate for the tombola for the Christmas Fayre. These can be brought into school from Monday. Cakes for the cake stall can be brought into school on the morning of Friday 9th December.
National ISA Success.
The Kimono Design, made by Maya Keys, Grace Wakley and Laura Harding was placed second in the fashion category for the National ISA Arts competition. This is quite an accomplishment and we are really proud of them. The ISA now consists of 608 schools nationwide. To gain success in any National competition is a real credit to the girls and to their School. Well done!
Christmas Trees:
Thank You to Mr Parkes from Home Farm Christmas Trees for this years’ trees and to the ‘dads’ who helped put it up so easily! If you are buying a tree this weekend – please try to support Home Farm Christmas Trees by way of a thank you!
Art Room News:
The Carol Concert Cover Design competition has been a huge success this year. Mrs Izod and Mrs Mellor are delighted with the entries. It will be very hard to choose. We will be putting all of the work on display and we would like to thank all the pupils for their hard work. So much effort has gone into producing these.
Thank you and well done to everyone.
Music E – news
Carol Service The children are very excited to join together to share their music and readings on Thursday 8th December at Pershore Abbey. All children in the Junior School (J3, 4,5,6) and in the Middle School (7,8,9) are involved and expected to participate. Year 11 are encouraged to attend their last Carol Service; some of which are reading or supporting in other ways. Ensemble players and singers are also participating.
Our service begins at 7pm. Please could all students arrive at 6.30 and could all instrumentalists arrive at 6.15 to tune their instruments and warm up. Full school uniform is expected. The children have been practising very hard and we anticipate a very festive and enjoyable evening.
Please be aware that during the school day on Thursday 8th December, those involved in the Carol Service will be rehearsing at the Abbey with the majority returning for lunch time. We ask that students arrive on time to school as they will be leaving at 9am to rehearse.
Orchestra cancelled Please note that there will be no Orchestra on Tuesday after school next week as we will be rehearsing during the school day on Tuesday.
Lower Chamber Choir cancelled Please also note that there will no Lower Chamber Choir rehearsal on Monday after school as we will be rehearsing during the school day on Tuesday.
Other news Congratulations to Oliver Andrews in Year 9 who has passed his Grade 4 piano exam with a high merit. This is superb outcome; a very talented young man.

Christmas Raffle
Raffle ticket envelopes have all been sent home today, so please check school Bags!
A reminder that donations for the class hampers can be brought in from Monday, please can they be labelled for the class hamper raffle so that they don’t get mixed up with all the other donations ahead of the Christmas fair!
The deadline for raffle tickets to be handed in is Wednesday 14th December, and the draw taking place on Thursday 15th December. Please can you ensure either your name or child’s name is written on the back of purchased raffle tickets!

News from the Prep School.
Well it’s all beginning to look a lot more festive around school this week, rehearsals are in full swing and classrooms have been decorated, needless to say the pupils are feeling the mounting excitement!
Thank you to Miss Tait and 5KT for their assembly on Thursday all about First Aid.
The Star Pupils this week are:
N – Skye Worth for super singing in the nativity rehearsal.
R – Eretria Bolt for being a kind friend.
I1 – Elena Svancara for super singing in the nativity.
I2 – Indigo Hudson – Page for always working hard.
J3 – Beau Clarke for trying his hardest with his singing for the nativity.
J4 – Will Rush for hard work in his maths.
J5 – Harper Hartwell for a great diary entry of a Victorian prisoner.
6NS – Beatrice Meikle for approaching school life with a positive and mature attitude.
6SR – Beatrice Heaume for a super piece of art work.
We also congratulated Elena Svancara (I1) for gaining her orange strip Martial Arts Certificate. Congratulations to everybody.
J5 gave a class assembly on the importance of knowing first aid. They told the Prep school how they could help their friends or family member in an emergency situation, such as choking, burns and asthma attacks. The also highlighted the most important thing in an emergency is to keep yourself safe! There will be a Prep school First Aid club starting after Christmas.
The Prep School pupils and staff look forward to welcoming parents at one of our events next week, whether it’s the Nativity on Wednesday in the school hall at 2pm, our traditional Carol Service at Pershore Abbey on Thursday at 7pm or our Christmas Fayre on Friday from 3.30pm.

Transport:
Further to Mr Allen’s email regarding lift sharing, we have received enquiries from families living in Drakes Broughton and Pershore.
If you live in these areas (or pass through on your journeys to and from school) and have a space in your car, perhaps you could consider lift sharing. It does not necessarily have to be a regular arrangement, it could be on a flexible or occasional basis. Please do get in touch.
For the sake of clarity, can you please confirm by email that you would be happy for us to pass on your contact details to like-minded parents, in the hope that you are able to make suitable arrangements.

U11’s Football A&B vs Heathfield
On Monday we took two sides to play against Heathfield in 7 a side football matches. A quick warm up for both teams and they jumped straight into action. The A side were immediately tested by Heathfield running directly at them down the centre of the field. Brave goalkeeping by Alfie, using his face as a shield, stopped Heathfield from taking an early lead. The game proceeded like a yo-yo with both teams attacking each other quickly. Strong defending from Dan and Rex, along with more athletic goalkeeping from Alfie kept the game at 0-0 going into half time.
The second half started with Bowbrook piling more pressure onto the Heathfield team in attack. Good runs down the wing by Josh and movement in the box from Bobby and Tom kept the Heathfield defenders guessing, whilst Max distracted their midfielders. The first goal of the game came from quick thinking by Josh, as the Heathfield keeper put the ball on the ground to kick out and josh took it from him to score. As the second half continued Bowbrook turned from attack to defence. Heathfield piled on the pressure and scored a late equaliser to bring the scores level, resulting in a final score of 1-1. Player of the match, nominated by Heathfield, was Alfie.
The B side played a different style of football, following 5 a side rules to try and incorporate functional football skills. Heathfield started the game strongly moving the ball quickly into the Bowbrook half. Bowbrook’s defenders were quick to get a foot in to stop the ball, but the ball dropped quickly to the Heathfield strikers. The first half came to a close at 3-0 to Heathfield but could have been much higher without some great saves from Luke and strong tackling from Ed and Ben.
As the second half kicked off Jonah and Sam got more possession of the ball and began to play more in Heathfield half. Luke swapped with Oli in goal, and Oli worked hard to stop the Heathfield score from increasing, with good positional play. A much stronger second half from the Bowbrook side but Heathfield’s football experience took its toll with the team. They scored one more goal in the second half and the game came to a close at 4-0 to Heathfield. Bowbrook’s Player of the match, as nominated by Heathfield, was Ed for his brave tackling under the flurry of Heathfield attacks.
U9’s Hockey vs Abbey Park
On Monday afternoon the U9 hockey team played a home fixture against Abbey Park. Finally, the rain had stopped and a fixture was able to go ahead.
The match consisted of 4x 8-minute quarters which gave the pupils chance to change positions and have a team talk.
The first quarter Bowbrook were strong in their attack and played some excellent hockey. Leo Clarke & Jack Jones played upfront and kept pushing the ball towards the D but unfortunately could not get a goal.
Anna Judge & Oscar Birch played solidly in defence and Abbey Park struggled to score a goal in first & second quarter.
A few changes in position and Bowbrook were showing some brilliant match play. Will Rush & Hariet Smith controlled the ball easily and able to push the ball forwards to the attacking players. Unfortunately, Abbey Park scored 2 goals in third quarter and caught Bowbrook by surprise. Finally, Bowbrook scored a goal in the last quarter by Aadil Haque who hit the ball with some force which meant Abbey Park struggled to defend. The final score was 3-1 to Abbey Park.
Player of the match was awarded to Leo. Well Done, Team!!
House Events
A fantastic start to the house hockey and rugby this week, with years 5 – 9 taking part in house competition. Currently the results are extremely close, and it is all to play for when the seniors take the field/pitch on Wednesday afternoon. Over these final weeks of term we continue with our house events, with the house cross country competitions taking place on Monday 5th and Monday 12th December, followed by the house Tug-Of-War competition on the final day of term, Thursday 16th December.
Well done to all students that have taken part and contributed to your house in the events so far, but which house is going to take the final results…
Students should check the PE notice board to see if they are involved in fixtures.
