It’s not all about the chocolate! But I do hope that all our families have had a relaxing Easter and had some quality ‘family’ time and hopefully time for reflection on the true meaning of the Easter festival.
We look forward to welcoming all the pupils back to School on Thursday 20th April for the start of a very busy and exciting Summer term 2023.
Last term ended with many successes and with two assemblies; Prep School (Years N/R to Year 6) and the Senior School (Years 7 – 11) where we celebrated pupils’ efforts and achievements in a wide variety of areas from Swimming, Climbing and Horse Riding to Photography and French Flash Academy to name but a few.
The ‘honours board’ is very much ‘green’ at the moment with Blenheim House taking the football, netball, general knowledge and chess at the end of the Spring term!
We celebrated maximum effort grades and 100% attendance as well as looking at who had finished ‘top of the class’ for Smiley Faces for the term and who had managed 100 pluses or more in the Spring.
Perhaps a period of reflection and target setting for the summer term would be a good place to start when thinking of returning to school tomorrow?

As previously mentioned, it was Blenheim all the way winning House Football, Netball and General Knowledge. House Chess was won by Mustafa Ahmed M9 of Blenheim defeating Ethan Cooper of S11 Trafalgar House in a very well fought final.

Music news:
Congratulations to several music students who have received certificates for outstanding musical achievement in final assembly today. Lucy Sinnott in S11 for her GCSE performance and composition work, Laura Harding, Tom Land, William Duckworth in S10 for their recent GCSE Ensemble Performance achievement, Ayana Govin for her recent performances at the Marrs Bar in Worcester, Oliver Andrews, Albert Blinston and Joshua Laws in M9 for their excellent outcomes in both the Autumn and Spring terms. Very well done to all.
It was also a pleasure to award so many Treble Clef badges in assembly to those students who have shown great commitment to music extra-curricular over two terms. Very well done!
Instrumental Lessons and Extra-Curricular: Please note that instrumental lessons will begin again on Monday 24th April and extra-curricular will return again on Wednesday 3rd May. I will be unable to run Orchestra on Tuesday 2nd May due to another planned commitment in school; many apologies.
Sports Summary:
50 fixtures and tournaments in the Spring Term. Matches 35. Tournaments 15. That is an average of 4 events a week. 21 Wins. 3 Draws. 24 losses.
96 fixtures for the year so far! My thanks and congratulations to all the pupils from Year 3 to Year 11 who have represented the school at sport this year. Your efforts and commitments are most welcome!
Worcestershire Education Awards 2023.
I am very pleased to announce that we are in the final 3 for the Independent school of the Year category of the Worcestershire education Awards for 2023. Having won this category in 2022 I suspect we might not win again this year but it is a very pleasing honour to be a finalist for the second year in a row.
Mrs Robinson was nominated for Teacher of the Year and narrowly missed out on a finalist spot. Congratulations to our head of science and commiserations for not making the final three.
Thank you to all who took the time to fill in the nomination forms and for their kind words.
Uniform:
We return to school with Summer uniform as ‘optional’. When the weather is warmer, or at may half term, we switch to summer uniform for all. Summer uniform is then worn until the October half term or until we decide it is too cold and we switch back to winter uniform.
I understand and appreciate the ‘issues’ that there have been with Monkhouse and supplies and we have raised these. I also understand that ‘standards’ cost and uniform can be expensive, but we have standards and I expect all pupils to uphold them, this includes uniform. Please let’s start the term positively and looking smart in our uniform!
