In a very wet and windy week we said goodbye to ‘Vera’ our much loved ‘school pig’. We had our first full timetabled week and assemblies, music lessons clubs and activities were all back up and running which is fantastic to see.

Arts week looms on the horizon and we have a French exchange and a ski trip, amongst other things to look forward to. The Spring term 2023 is now in full swing!

Activities on a Friday are also in full swing. Pictured: CPR with 7s and 8s!

Art's Week Request:

Looking for a Bench/Picnic Bench to decorate.

Mrs. Farr and Mrs. Ridge wondered whether anybody has an old wooden picnic bench that they no longer require that we could have as our upcycling project please. Please let us know via email:

alexa.farr@bowbrookhouseschool.co.uk
or
sarah.ridge@bowbrookhouseschool.co.uk.

Many thanks in advance.

Older generations of I Pads:

We are looking to extend/enrich the curriculum with i-movie and various ‘apps’ that are free from Apple’s educational arm, particularly for the Infants and lower Key stage 2. We are looking to purchase a ‘class set’ of i-pads but want to trial their use/compatibility first.

Do you have an older version i-pad that you could donate to school. We have found that the i-pad 2 is good enough to run i-movie on.

If you can donate an old i-pad please bring it in to Mr Draper. We would be most grateful!

Worcester Bus:

We are still seeking pupils to use the Worcester bus to enable us to continue this service. Please contact Mrs Hunt if you would like to use the ‘greener alternative’!

PC Meeting:

Parents’ Committee meeting next week on Thursday in the dining room at 2.45. All parents are welcome.

Open day:

Next Friday 20th January is our next open day. Please do feel free to advertise and tweet/post! Any parents willing to help on the day please do let me know. Hopefully it will not be as wet as this week!

Music Enews

Just a quick reminder that music extra-curricular begins next week starting with Lower Chamber Choir on Monday after School. Rock Band will also be beginning again in the music room after school on Wednesday as well as Mr Booton’s Junior Samba Drumming Club on Thursday at 3.30.

Whilst many remembered, there were several students who forgot to attend their instrumental lesson this week. Please could I ask you to again to check that times and lesson dates are written into planners, thank you.

Music Stars of the Week

Tom Land, William Duckworth and Laura Harding in Year 10 for their superb attitude and enthusiasm towards their GCSE music work. Very well done! What a pleasure to teach!

Thank you.
Mrs Izod

News from the Prep School

The children in the Prep School have settled back into the new term quickly. We have a lot to look forward to with several special visitors to our school. The first was this Friday when we had a visit from the local Dog’s Trust, in a couple of weeks all of the pupils will have an age-appropriate workshop with an Education officer from HSBC teaching us about ‘money matters.’ Then finally we have many exciting plans for our Arts Week before half term – watch this space.

This week our Star Pupils were:

  • N - Charlotte Hopkins for being kind.
  • R - Roux Moss for independent maths work.
  • I1 - Pippa-Jo Houston for painting an amazing Kandinsky picture.
  • I2 - Daniela Bille for an amazing Kandinsky painting.
  • J3 - Summer Comen for trying hard in sign language club.
  • J4 - Will Rush for a super start to the term.
  • J5 - Rosalie Bolt for fantastic colours in Art.
  • 6NS - Ben Rollason for putting 100% effort into his math's lessons.
  • 6SR - Charlie Birch for settling in so well to Bowbrook.

We also commended Jack Jones and Anna Judge for achieving their Accelerated Reader targets.

Very well done to everyone.
Mrs. Ridge

PE News:

Finally, a whistle blew across the football pitches at Bowbrook House School! Holy Redeemer were the school’s first visiting team to play the u11’s at 7 a-side football.

In match 1, Holy Redeemer looked the stronger team from the first whistle scoring only one goal in the first half and 2 in the second. Alfie B was consistent as ever in goals putting his body on the line. The final whistle blew and the match ended 3-0 to Redeemer. This isn’t a reflection on how well the Bowbrook boys played.

In match 2 the Redeemer boys were more than up for the challenge and slotted away a brace of goals. Bowbrook got onto the score sheet ending their match 7-3 to Redeemer.

All the boys played well but were out of practice and this showed. A few more games lessons and they will be more than up to the task.

Well done everyone!

Students should check the PE notice board to see if they are involved in fixtures.
