News from the Prep School. 

A busy and productive week in the Prep School. I would like to commend all of Year 6 on their fabulous Anderson Shelter projects, what an amazing effort – look out for photos on Twitter! 

I would also like to thank Year 6 for leading our Armistice Day assembly on Thursday and also to Year 5 who created a selection of beautiful poppy wreaths which we took down to Peopleton Church. These have been placed around the Remembrance Memorial alongside the church wreaths. Rev. Noyes received the wreaths and joined us at school for the two-minute silence.  

Year 1&2:

A reminder that on Monday I1 & 2 will be visiting Birdland for the day. 

Friday 19th. Children in Need:

We would like to invite all Prep children to come to school wearing something ‘Spotty’. Please exchange one item of school uniform for one spotty item and a donation of £1 to go towards the charity.

Parents’ Committee: Christmas Raffle Hampers:

Please see attached flyer to get involved. The donations can be anything – chocolates, bottles, jams, biscuits, candles or even socks – whatever you would like if you were one of the lucky winners!! Each class will decorate their box, and there will be a competition for the best decorated hamper and a prize for the winning class!! 

The draw will take place at the end of term and Raffle tickets will be sent home with the children so keep an eye out in their bags!

Fixture and results 

U14 Rugby V Tettenhall won 50 -5 

This was an excellent match in which the U14’s performed brilliantly.  It was a closer game than the score line suggests and the opposition forwards were strong and organised at times but were played such that their opportunities were few and far between.  We scored 10 tries to their 1, 6 of which were scored by a winger which really demonstrates the expansive rugby they played.  Sid M scored 6 tries as left wing having used his speed to make the most of excellent passing in the midfield to put him into space.  Luca E scored 2 in the second half through the same service and managed to make a huge impact when moving from the pack and onto the wing.  Rory C got a deserved try as rewards for his excellent work rate throughout. Tom G was immense at the ruck as always! Will R made some brilliant rucks and offloaded well to put others into space. James C marshalled things well from fly half and also got a score for his efforts.  Additional tries from Giovanni B on his debut and ???????  A great all-around performance and an enjoyable one to watch.  The team face a challenge when they travel to Malvern College on 25th November for their next encounter.  

U13 Rugby V Tettenhall – lost 50-20 

The U13’s once again had a cracking game against Tettenhall and the result mirrored that of the away encounter earlier in the season; we were very close in the first half and petered off a little in the second. However, there were some excellent passages of play in what was a competitive game.  Albert B captained the side and led by example with excellent ground made with the ball and confident marshalling of the troops.  Tom W really adapted his game well to be more efficient with his positioning and was rewarded with some good tries.  Will F was really impressive at the break down as well as when carrying the ball and has made a huge amount of progress in the game.  Harry C once again showed an excellent turn of pace and was also rewarded with a try.  Oliver S, as always, put in an impressive shift and made some huge tackles.   In general, the team were more cohesive and there is the core of a potentially successful team as we move forwards.  We look forward to next week’s encounter against Bredon on Thursday.  

U11 ISA Football 

ISA U11 5 a side football 8th November 2021  

7 students travelled to the Wyre Forest leisure centre in Kidderminster to take part in the U11 ISA Tournament. More than 20 teams had confirmed entry so it was going to be hotly contested.  

In their first game of 13 the boys played some good football. Josh Smith and Toby Bennett were forcing the opposition’s goalie to work hard for the 7 minutes.  

A switch round of players for the second game against Dixie Grammar saw Daniel Turberville-Tully blocking any form of attack in defence whilst Jonah Harris was working well in the middle of the pitch  

In the third game against St Dominic’s, Toby finally found the back of the net but unfortunately this game ended 3-1. The games were played thick and fast with all the boys swapping positions including the goalkeeper.  

The lads had warmed into the games now and were working as a team. Their final game against Heathfield Knoll saw Toby, ably assisted by Josh and Tom Wilson, slot in 2 goals to end the match 2-0.  

The boys played with respect and tenacity on what was a very cold and at times wet day and I am sure as they play more games will become more successful as a team. Well done!  

U14 Hockey V’s Kingham Hill 

U14 girls had a tough game at Kingham Hill on Thursday afternoon. However the final score didn’t reflect the effort they all made. The girls did have some real opportunities to score with strong passes into the D but just didn’t have the last touch in the D to score.  

Lottie Tocknell worked well on the left wing and made some good tackles to get the ball up the pitch with Molly Neale and Izzie Wilcox in support. In the first half Sofia Merlin scored Bowbrook first goal with a great run. Half time 4-1 Kingham  

Farrah Newman, Claudia Evans, and Laura Harding had lots to do in defence, but kept at it. Farrah Newman wasn’t afraid to go in make some strong tackles and took the ball up to the half way line and with a great pass to Izzie Wilcox Bowbrook got a second goal.  

Kingham Hill were in full flow though and the game finished 7-2 to Kingham.  

Sofia Merlin was nominated Player of the Match.
