Autumn Term Newsletter Friday 3rd October 2025

Rehersal schedule
Sports Reports and Fixtures
Parents This Week

Batten down the hatches for a wet and windy weekend… it’s been another busy week at Bowbrook!

Jeans for Genes:
Counted total for the day is £321.95 – a great effort

Pay-it-Forward:
On Tuesday, pupils were set a ‘Bowbrook Challenge’ during assembly by the 10PMH form group, to celebrate a small part of what makes our school unique. Using the principle of the ‘Pay It Forward’ film, pupils have been tasked to undertake a random act of kindness for another member of the school community, and tell that person to ‘pay it forward’. Once they have done so, they can collect a white badge for their blazer.

We will see how long it takes to spread kindness far and wide across the school!

Annie Jr

Please see below for the rehearsal schedule next week (full schedule attached). A reminder for students to also bring a folder and pencil to rehearsals.
Please note 2 changes:

The finishing time for rehearsals on 9th and 16th October is now 5pm due to parents’ evenings.

The cast required on Tuesday 7th and Tuesday 14th October has swapped over due to ISA swimming.

Many thanks, The Annie Jr. Production Team

Art News:

KS3 Art and Crafts Club: Year 7, 8 and 9 students are invited to attend Arts & Crafts club over the next 2 weeks to support the creation of our Bowbrook artwork for Remembrance. I look forward to seeing you in the Art rooms at lunch break.

In support of World Mental Health day on 10th October, all students and staff will be asked to ‘make their mark’ on a collaborative sunflower artwork. The piece is inspired by Post-Impressionist artist Vincent Van Gogh, who himself suffered with mental health. The use of yellow in many of his pieces was a deliberate choice, symbolising light, warmth and emotional depth and is also the colour which represents the mental health charity ‘Young Minds’. #helloyellow

Flu Vaccinations:

A portal message was sent to parents on Monday asking them to give consent for the flu vaccination taking place in school on Friday 17th October.

Parents to complete the consent, even if they want to decline, otherwise they may get a call on the day from the nurses.

Prep School News:

Lots of super learning in Prep this week:  drama performances, playscripts, Olympic Games re-enactments in History, writing Greek myths, producing narratives from a storyboard, videos of digestive system (check out socials!), designing Roman towns and much more!

Another great week where the children joined the many clubs on offer:  Coding, hockey, puzzles, reading club, Maths club, Stem club, singing club.
Take a look at the Pringle Ring challenge in our Maths club this week…..success!

Our singing Assembly this week was practising ready for our Harvest festival on Thursday in Peopleton Church, which we are really looking forward to.  Could we please ask for donations to take with us please – a tin or packet of something that the children can carry across – this goes towards the Peopleton collection for the Maggs Day Centre.

And finally from the Prep school

Our Stars of the week this week in Prep were:

  • N/R - Beatrice - for super phonics
  • 1&2 - Oliver - for being a great role model to younger friends
  • 3&4 - Isabelle - for a really positive start to a new school
  • 5 - David - for always being kind and being a good role model
  • 6 - Summer - for writing a brilliant playscript
We have our Curriculum Alive Day planned for the last Friday before half term and the children in Years 1-6 will be mixed up in four groups to participate in activities related to our theme, Nature Day.  If you have any old shirts, jeans etc could you please send them in to Miss Tait for our Scarecrow activity – see the leaflet that was sent home with the children on Thursday after assembly.

Miss White and Mrs Mills are doing a Family Arts Morning on Saturday, 8th Nov from 10-12pm with a bonfire theme.  Please do come along and bring a friend too – it’s open to all and free!  The Arts Captains will be supporting this day too.  Email sally.white@bowbrookhouseschool.co.uk  to book a place.

Have a lovely weekend all,

Mrs Mao and Prep Team
