Drama News:

Annie:

A reminder that pupils have one week left to sign up if they want to perform in our Whole School Show next year. Mrs Ford introduced the show, which will be Annie Jr, in Assemblies last week and sent information to parents via engage parent portal. There are a variety roles for pupils of all ages as well as fun ensemble opportunities. Anyone wanting to perform in the show, as a main part or in the ensemble should complete the online form to sign up for auditions in September – including any Infants who would like to be involved. We’ve had a really positive response so far but would particularly like to hear from more pupils currently in M9 (going into S10!) The deadline is next Friday (July 4th)

Prep School News:

It was lovely to welcome our Nursery and Reception children in for their Taster morning with Miss White and Mrs Geisler.  They had a super morning.  They shared a story, Sharing a shell and made their own crabs to take home.  The children went for lunch in our dining hall with the other Prep children too!

As part of their PSHE lessons this term on Years 5 and 6 had a workshop on Periods by Emily from EmPower.  The children sent through questions to Emily a week earlier via google so that she could tailor it to their needs.  She was very impressed with how mature and engaged they were and they took so much from the session with her.  Both boys and girls took part in this session, with girls having the opportunity to stay behind to chat to Emily.  Her goal is, “to enlighten everyone about the intrinsic differences in women’s biology. Understanding these differences is not just a game-changer; it is essential for every single human being as they will interact with women, be it a mother, sister, daughter, friend, or colleague.”

Infants have been whipping up a storm by preparing a ‘matunda’, which is Swahili for ‘fruit’ (salad).  The children have been comparing life in a part of Kenya with one in the UK, as part of their Geography curriculum.

J4 had a transition afternoon today with their new teacher for next year, Mrs Thorneywork.  It sounded very exciting…lots of fun getting to know you games and making some birthday cards ready for next year!   She is really looking forward to having this lovely group of children in September.

I have been hearing all about J3’s class book too this week – Esio Trot.  If you are not familiar with the story, you can find it here…https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b04w5btr/roald-dahls-esio-trot

Year 5 have achieved some certificates this week.  A huge well done to Sienna and Summer Comens for receiving their Grade 1 Piano Certificates.  Also well done to Olivia, Summer and Sienna for reaching their reading targets and Aadil for super effort in reading this term.

Mrs Mills kindly invited both the Year 5 and Year 6 classes up to the Art rooms this week (on separate days) for a really fun Art lesson.  The Year 6 children came back very excited about their Art lessons next year – I must admit I do love the space up there – so I can see why.  Mrs Mills also commented on how well behaved the Year 6 children were, so very well done to them.

We have had a Coding League  in Year 6 – the children are in pairs and have to complete coding challenges as quickly as they can.  Our current champions are Willow and Fabien.  Runners up are Sally and Adam.  Watch this space..!

Next week is Level 2 Bikeability for Year 6 – a reminder email to all Year 6 parents has gone out again today.  Groups are on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday – please see the email for the day your child is down.

On Monday we have Prep School Council representatives going to meet Sir Nicholas and Lady Georgia Coleridge.  Sir Nicholas is the Chair of the Historical Royal Palaces and ex-Chair of the Victoria & Albert Museum in London.  We invited both him and Lady Georgia to our recent Night at the Museum event, via theirs and our neighbour, Ms Saint.  Unfortunately they were unable to make it, but have invited us to visit Wolverton Hall instead.   We are sharing our lovely photos from our recent event.

Finally, all the children have been busy preparing for the Summer Concert next week and are looking forward to performing in the marquee on Wednesday evening.  We look forward to seeing you there.

Also we have our final Stay and Play session next week for the year and, of course, our Prep Sports and Speech Day to look forward to!

Have a lovely weekend all.
