News from the Prep School

What a busy, busy week we’ve had in Prep – obviously lots learning and of course, lots of fun!

ISA U11s Cricket with the girls – they worked really hard as a team and we are very proud of them.
It was a quiet day on Monday without them!

Tuesday our Infants went swimming and are in 3 groups – thank-you to Mr Bury, Miss Cox and Mrs Geisler for supporting their lessons.  They learnt all about water safety right before half term – they know how to stay safe around open water.

Thank-you to Miss Tait for a fabulous Assembly this week.  Our stars of the week are:
  • Infants - Oliver - for super swimming
  • Year 3 - Iris - for super understanding in our history lessons
  • Year 4 - Theo - an excellent job playing Chang in our class assembly
  • Year 5 - Sienna - amazing handwriting progress
  • Year 6 - Max - for writing a fantastic letter as an evacuee
A special well done to Sally in J6 for winning the ISA Digital Arts competition in KS2 for Most Innovative Design.

Have a lovely half term break everyone and thank-you for all your support.

From Mrs Mao and the Prep team.

Middle and Senior School Equipment and Uniform Focus

After half term we will be having a focus on arriving to lessons prepared and ready to learn. Students who are incorrectly attired or equipped will be issued a slip as a reminder of our expectations. This is to ensure that pupils give themselves the best opportunity to apply themselves to their lessons with little to no distraction or disturbance. It will also ensure in a timely fashion that pupils are on time and properly equipped when school exam week comes around (w.c. 23rd June)

The ‘trial’ will determine whether some need support (or indeed sanction or rewards) for being equipped and prepared for learning.  We will share this with pupils in assembly on return but we ask that students use half term to ensure they have what they need for their lessons.  If there is any uncertainly about what is required, please check the Middle and Senior School Parents’ handbook for details on the school website.

Thank you for your support.

Mr Mills
Deputy Headteacher.

Music Enews

A maths trip apparently! Report by Violet W Year 7

Date for your diary: Summer Concert – Wednesday 2nd July. The children are rehearsing very hard for this year’s concert; please do make a note in your diary of this date. It is an expectation that all children from Reception to Year 9 attend. There are many Year 10 and 11 students who have volunteered to support or participate who will also be in attendance.

Lower Chamber Choir: Please note the new finish time for after half term; please could parents now collect at 5pm, thank you.

Music Star of the Week: Rosalie Bolt in Year 7 for her fantastic complex melody writing above a chord progression and to Theo Worth in Year 9 for his quick learning of his chordal accompaniment in Folk Group. Very well done to both!

Thank you
Mrs Izod

Young Voices New Visions Exhibition takes place this year between 8th – 30th June in the Cloisters at Worcester Cathedral. The theme is ‘Courage’ and KS3 students have worked hard this term to create a collaborative Cape of Courage, inspired by Post-Impressionism and the symbolism of flowers. Entry into the exhibition is free and there will be hundreds of artworks from around the county to view, including ours. So, pop along, if you can between 10am-5pm, Monday to Saturday, and 1pm-3pm on Sundays!

ISA Digital Art Competition
Congratulations to Sally, J6, for being awarded ‘Most Informative’ in the KS2 category of the ISA Digital Art Competition. The judges said that they loved ‘the expression and ethereal quality’ of the artwork.
