French exchange – Merci!

A massive thank you to those families and teachers (and neighbours of teachers) who hosted a French person this week. Thank you to staff who helped with lessons, activities and meals while they were in school.
The French students had a wonderful time and there were even a few tears as they left.
We are looking forward to our return visit starting on the 21st May.

Merci encore,
Mr Whittingham

Last reminder for Bingo tonight!

Easter Raffle

Raffle tickets for the Easter raffle were all sent home last Friday – with the draw taking place at the end of term assembly. If you haven’t returned your tickets then there is still time, and also still time to bring in your donations for the class raffle hampers.

There is a prize for the best decorated hamper for the winning class to share.

Money raised so far by the Parents Committee has helped with areas of the school for added enrichment, such as the pottery wheel, improved stage lighting and the new pond. Latest ‘requests’ are outdoor table tennis tables and picnic benches with inlaid chess/draughts boards!

Many thanks for your ongoing support – it is very much appreciated.

News from the Art Rooms

The GCSE Art exam takes place next week on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Wishing lots of luck to all year 11 students involved!! Please note, that due to the exam, there will be no Art clubs at lunch or after school until after the Easter break.

Year 7 students have worked brilliantly this half term to create their own Textile Art inspired by the Photorealist, Sarah Graham, using blended oil pastels and a variety of brightly coloured threads. They are going to look fantastic up on display!

Prep School News

We’ve had another busy week in Prep – with tours, visitors in classes doing tasters and transition days.  It’s been lovely to see how welcoming our Prep children are to our visitors.

We’ve entered some ISA competitions this week – Infants entered the Easter egg competition and J6 the KS2 book cover competition – fingers crossed!  We’ve also chosen the submissions to our UCL British Science Week competition from across our Prep classes.  There were some brilliant innovations!

On Tuesday we had Vicky from HSBC delivering workshops in all our Prep classes, followed by a Senior assembly.  We learnt how to plan/budget for a party and how to keep our money safe amongst other things.

Another successful Stay & Play in our Forest School are this week saw our many visitors making their own Stickman to take home, as well as exploring the activities on offer.

We have a Nursery/Reception taster morning booked in for Friday, 2nd May 2025 from 8.20am – 12pm where there will be an opportunity for children to experience a half day in Infants, with their parents meeting existing parents and having a chat over coffee.

On Thursday we were treated to a fantastic assembly on Ramadan and Eid-al-Fitr by J5 children.
Our Stars of the week this week are:
  • Infants - Max - for being kind and helpful
  • J3 - Elena - for fantastic effort in all her lessons
  • J4 - Francesca - for always showing beautiful manners
  • J5 - Rory J - for excellent diary writing in English
  • J6 - Orla - for doing really well in netball
Thank-you to those who have sent in chocolate gifts for the Easter hampers so far.  We are a bit thin on the ground in some classes, so would really appreciate your help in putting together a super Easter hamper for each class to put forward for the end of term assembly.

We have our Egyptian Day in J3 next Tuesday  and Crime & Punishment Day in J4 on Wednesday to look forward to!

Have a lovely weekend all.
