Spring Term Newsletter Friday 21st March

Bowbrook Newsletter

So, at the time of writing we have just finished our ‘Old Bowbrookians’ football and netball. The Old Boys won the football 4 -1 with the Girls drawing 12-12 in the Netball. With probably 50 or so parents and former pupils it was lovely to chat with them and hear about their sixth form successes. University applications, Police Cadets, Air Force, apprenticeships in accountancy…all sorts. It was a delight to catch up!

Thank you to Year 9 in particular who did a fantastic job along with some 8’s and 7’s in showing visitors around toady for our Open Day. A healthy fifteen visits, mainly for the prep and middle school but we continue to be as busy as ever with admissions.

My thanks too to the Infant staff, especially Miss Cox, Mrs Geisler and Miss Farnsworth, who put so much time effort and energy into our Pirate themed day in the Infants. I got caught up in their treasure hunt today! Brilliant fun…

Lastly, thank you to Mr bell and to Mrs Ford, our D of E leaders as the Bronze practice expedition walk to Bishampton was successfully completed.

And that was just today, Friday … Another busy day at Bowbrook!

French exchange ETA:

The French students are due to arrive at 6.30 pm on Monday. This is always something of an approximation but I will try to update you via the “Engage” Portal, if I hear anything different.

Anyone who would like to join the WhatsApp group, please contact Mrs Heaume via her school email.

A reminder for those going on the return leg to France in May, that the full payment of £250 was due earlier this month. Thank you to those who have already paid and a big thank you to all our hosts. I hope you’re looking forward to it as I am.

A fantastic response to homework from years 7 and 8 this week, well done to everyone! Here’s a little preview of some of the year 7 3D food sculptures that have been created out of materials found at home!

Another great week in Prep!

Lots of fun and sun learning in our outdoors for Infants on Tuesday and for Years 3 and 4 this afternoon.
We have had lots of visitors this week and many coming around today on our Open Day.  The children all spoke brilliantly to them.

We had lots of visitors again at our Stay and Play session in Forest School this Wednesday – the children were making shamrocks with natural materials from the area.  We always seem to be very lucky with blue skies on these days.

Assembly this week was a singing assembly, practising our Easter songs ready for our Easter service at Peopleton Church in the last week, to be led by J3.

Our Stars of the week this week are:
  • Infants: Lottie - for good listening
  • Year 3: Adam - for super work on his presentation
  • Year 4: Molly - for settling in quickly and always being helpful
  • Year 5: Ben - for always giving 100% and being an excellent role model
  • Year 6: Sally - for settling in beautifully to our school
Today there were lots of pirates and parrots in Infants, looking for gold coins, doing treasure hunts and searching for Black Hat Rob!  They had lots of fun – thank-you to our parents for sending them in with such fun costumes.

Parents of Year 4 and 5 –
thanks to those who have completed the consent form online for the Bikeability sessions on 28.4.25.  If you haven’t already done so, could you please do this by Monday,  24th March.

Next week we are looking forward to our money workshops in Prep, being run by Vicky from the HSBC.  We also have J5 assembly to look forward to – all about Eid Al-Fitr.  Plus chocolate bingo next Friday!

Have a lovely weekend all.

Kind regards
Mrs Mao and Prep team
Looks like next week is equally as busy! Have a great weekend everyone..
