A huge thank you to Mrs Izod and everyone involved in last night’s carol service. There was such talent and diversity in the performances and such a sense of community in that beautiful building. Thank you all too fo your generous donations at the end!
A lovely evening… Thank you.
Christmas Fayre
A huge ‘Thank You’ to the Parents’ Committee for today’s Christmas fayre. A lovely mix of stalls and a fabulous atmosphere. To Mr Davis and his traction engine and to everyone involved… A very Christmassy end to the week and (hopefully) lots raised for PC funds too!
French Exchange. One last appeal!
French Exchange. One last appeal!
Thanks again to all the host families. We now have just one French boy with nowhere to stay in March.
Even if your son / daughter does not study French, if you could offer a bed for four nights (from 24th March), young Roland and I would be very grateful.
In the meantime, I would like to meet all the host students at short break on Monday so that we can arrange to send a short introductory letter to partners before Christmas.
Art Room News
@BowbrookArts
A festive morning last Saturday at the Prep school family Art workshop. Thank you to the Arts captains, Rosie, Tom, Lilybelle and Jess for coming along and supporting our younger students.
The Bowbrook tree is now in place at Worcester Cathedral for the Christmas Tree Festival. Our tree theme is linked to the environment and the event is free to visit from 5th December to 6th January. Thank you to the KS3 Art Club students who have helped to make the decorations using recycled and found materials and to ‘Home Farm Christmas Trees’, Spetchley, for donating a beautiful tree for us to use.
Worcester Foodbank
Worcester Foodbank has passed on its thanks for the very generous donations from the Bowbrook community this year. A fantastic effort that will help lots of families in Worcestershire over the Christmas holidays, thank you.
Prep school news
There have been lots of festive activities alongside lessons this week.
There was a fabulous Year 5 lesson where the children were investigating the effects of air resistance. They made parachutes of different sizes and planned different types of scientific enquiries to answer questions, including recognising and controlling variables where necessary. They dropped the parachutes from an upstairs window and timed how long it took for them to fall. They discovered that the larger the parachute, the more air resistance there is. Well done Year 5!
We had our last Stay and Play session, when 16 children got to meet Father Christmas in his grotto with his elves in our Forest School. It has lovely to get to meet so many parents and their toddlers and we hope to welcome them back for future sessions a bit later next year.
Years 3 upwards performed in the amazing Christmas Concert, run by Mrs Izod. We were so proud of all of our children to such fantastic performances.
This was followed the following morning by the Infants Nativity – Bethlehem Bake off – the children were fabulous and we loved all the jokes!
Next week is another full week…!
Monday we are taking a group of Junior choral singers to the Stonebow Care Home in Peopleton to sing with their residents. Tuesday there is a House cross country event for UKS2. Wednesday we have the Prep trip to the Panto after our Christmas dinner. On Wednesday the children are invited to wear their Christmas jumpers and make a donation of £1 to Save The Children.
Have a restful weekend all.
