I know we have not had Halloween yet but I need to mention Christmas!!

Thursday 5th December Whole school Carol Service in Pershore Abbey. 7.00 p.m. Start.

Friday 6th December PC Christmas Fayre. Again a whole school event please.

Flu Immunisations

The Vaccination Nurses were in school today administering flu vaccinations to those who had consent. Unfortunately timescales do not allow The Vaccination Team to revisit schools for catch ups, so for any pupils who wanted to receive the vaccination but missed out today, they are offering immunisations at clinics on Saturday mornings as follows:

26th Oct – Stourport Sports Club

9th Nov – Bromsgrove Library

16th Nov – Malvern Clinic

23rd Nov – Redditch Library

30th Nov – Stourport Sports Club

Please contact the Vaccination Team on 01527 390030 if you wish to book in at any of these clinics.

Rags 2 Riches

Thank you to everyone who donated.

We raised £96.80.

Disco

Friday 1st November.

Halloween disco for Infants & Juniors from 15.30 – 16.30.

The PC are looking forward to seeing all the super costumes – prizes will be awarded.

Art room news

A jam packed and fun filled half term which has seen students working really hard to produce exciting artwork through drawing, printing, painting and 3d sculpture to name but a few. Well done to all and congratulations to those named on this half terms Art & Design Hall of Fame.

KS4 Art clubs and workshops

Due to a request from students, we have added an additional KS4 workshop after half term. KS4 art students can now attend art clubs each week on Mondays and Thursdays from 4-5pm and Tuesday lunchtimes. Please note, they are not required to attend all of these sessions.

All Art clubs, including KS3 on Monday lunchtime will begin again from the second week back after half term, on Monday 4^th November.

KS3 Art club will be focusing on creating artwork for Remembrance and will be helping to create the Bowbrook tree for this years Festival of Trees at Worcester Cathedral.

Arts Captains

If you are in years 8, 9 or 10 and are interested in supporting and being involved in the Arts at Bowbrook, then please consider applying for the role of Arts Captain. All applications via email to Mrs Mills by Friday 1^st November please.

The Halloween disco for years 7, 8 and 9 will take place on the Friday after half term.

Music News

Instrumental Lessons: Most instrumental lessons will resume on Monday 4th November and finish on Friday 29th November for the term. Some teachers may offer some catch-up lessons the first week in December.

Violin lessons: Please note that Mr Neville will be beginning his lessons on Friday 1st November and will not be in school to teach on Thursday 7th November.

Date for your Diary: A few parents have been asking for details of the Carol Service this year. This will take place on Thursday 5th December at Pershore Abbey with a full day rehearsal at the Abbey on the concert day itself.

Music Extra-Curricular: With only a few weeks left until the Carol Service after half term, please can all musicians give full attendance now to ensemble rehearsals, thank you.

Music Star of the Week: Thank you to Lucinda Kirkham in Year 10 who performed a delightful piano solo in assembly this week as part of our ‘Tuneful Tuesdays’. Well done Lucy!

News from the Prep School

What an exciting week! It started with Infants on their trip to Top Barn, where they visited animals, had a talk from the farmer about harvesting and chose a pumpkin each to bring back.

Monday was also the day of the opening of Tait’s Treasures – Roman edition, where the children in Year 4 got to be the curators of their own class museum. They showed their 141 visitors all their hard work: estate agents brochures, jewellery, mosaics, fact files to name just a few.

Year 5 had their Anglo-Saxon themed day this week too – where they got to be Anglo-Saxons for the day, with lots of fun activities: campfires in forest school, shield-making etc.

Our Assembly this week was led by Mr Mills, who talked to the children all about the importance of kindness. He showed them a powerful animation that demonstrated how kindness spreads and makes peoples’ days better as a consequence. The children have been challenged to do some thoughtful acts of kindness over half term.

The Stars of the week this week are:

Infants: Phoebe - for listening well to her teachers and friends
Year 3: Pippa-Jo - for super effort with her spellings
Year 4: Daniela - for creating some wonderful artefacts for the Roman Museum
Year 5: Beau - for excelling editing and checking
Year 6: Hollie - for always giving 100% in all lessons
