Bowbrook Finalist in 3 County Educational Awards Categories 2024
Worcestershire Education Awards Thursday 18th April
After months of public nominations and the preliminary judging Bowbrook House School finds itself in the finals of three categories at this year’s Worcestershire Education Awards.
The awards run jointly by the education department of Birmingham Newman University and the Worcester news are a celebration of the hard work, dedication and professionalism amongst all teachers and educators within Worcestershire.
“We are delighted and thrilled at the prospect of being finalists in three categories” Mr Allen, Headmaster has said. “It is recognition of all the team here at Bowbrook House School from teaching staff to ancillary and support staff, even house & ground staff, that past and present pupils and past and present parents felt strongly enough to nominate us and that the Universities judging panel felt we were worthy of a ‘finalists’ spot.”
Independent School of the Year, Headteacher of the Year and STEM Project of the Year for innovation in Science, Technology, Egineering and Maths. 3 chances reflecting so much of the good work that goes on here at Bowbrook House school.
Independent School of the Year:
Not all independent school’s are the same. The family atmosphere that pervades is Bowbrook’s strength. Small enough to care and nurture but large enough to challenge. Bowbrook is a non-selective mainstream independent school for pupils from 3 ½ to 16. Pupils are said to make excellent academic progress but also personal development and ‘traditional’ qualities such as respect and manners underpin all that we do. Described as ‘a happy and hardworking community’ where all children are recognised for their individual contribution.
STEM project of the Year:
At Bowbrook, all pupils, regardless of age or ability, have the opportunity to participate in a huge range of STEM based competitions, activities, trips, events and challenges, all of which celebrate and develop an individual’s strengths and interests within and beyond the curriculum. Given our small size and extensive academic range, we very successfully stretch our most able against the rest, and the best, of the country, in multiple national competitions. These opportunities enable pupils to contextualise yet extend their curriculum knowledge and develop an awareness of and an excitement about where STEM subjects can take them as they progress through education and into future careers.
Headteacher of the Year:
Recently described in a parental survey as ‘an exceptional Headteacher’ popular with staff and with pupils alike, who say he is a firm but compassionate leader. An approachable authority figure who over the last 20 years has created at Bowbrook House School a family atmosphere where all pupils, parents and staff feel valued. An open-door policy for all ensures that Mr Allen has his finger firmly on the beating pulse of the School and nothing is too much trouble. A rare leader who leads by example recognising it is the details that matter!
