Old Bowbrookians

It was lovely to welcome back boys and girls from last years’ Year 11 and some older girls to play Football and Netball against the School’s U16s. A very convincing win for the U16 Girls at Netball and a 2-2 draw in the football. With the School winning by 5-4 on penalties! It was great to catch up with them hear about life in the Sixth forms that they have chosen to go on to; Hartpury, Worcester Sixth Form College, Heart of Worcester College, Prince Henry’s or RGS…And to see ‘old parents’ too! A lovely way to end the week.

News from the Parents Committee

Thank you to everyone who completed the Parents Committee survey. Your feedback was much appreciated and will help in planning future events. Thanks to those who have offered to help at events.
We will be in touch!

A pop-up cafe & preloved uniform sale will be held on Wednesday 20th March at 3-4:30pm to coincide with Zoo For A Day. This will be in the outside classroom next to the Schofield block. Refreshments will be complimentary. Uniform sales are cash only.

Summer Fete- save the date! This will be held on Friday 21st June at 3:30-5:30pm. If anyone would like to get involved in planning the event please contact lizzymeikle@gmail.com

Easter Raffle (Always a good fundraiser this one AND the children love it!)

With the Easter tradition of lots of Chocolate! – this year we decided to have again the very popular Easter Raffle, with the draw taking place in Final Assembly at the end of Term.
Each class will again make up a hamper from donations that the children will bring into school the week commencing the 11th of March –The donations can be anything from Chocolate to Socks!
Each class will decorate their box in an Easter theme, and there will be a class prize for the best decorated hamper!!

Raffle tickets will be sent home next week so please keep an eye out in their bags.
Thank you in advance for your support in donating items and buying raffle tickets!!!
This year all monies raised will be going towards improvements of the lighting and sound in the hall as well as other projects, this will be a massive benefit to the whole school so please be as generous as you can.
The winning tickets will be drawn by Mr Allen in Final Assembies.

Arts Council supports St Richard’s hospice

As Student Council and representatives of the Art Council, we have written an article we would like to put on the E-news regarding the penguin design competition. This article includes the key dates as well as any necessary information for the competitors:

In support of St. Richard’s Hospice, The Student council would like to announce we will now be launching the design competition, for The Great Waddle of Worcester! On Monday 4th March.

If wanted to enter, Your Student council representatives will be handing a blank penguin sheet for you, there is no theme so let your imagination run wild and create your own unique design.

Please return your design to your form council representatives. We ask that you submit your designs by the deadline of Friday 26th April.

News from the Prep School

This week in the Prep School Year 5 visited the local recycling centre as part of their Geography studies and Year 6 welcomed Mrs Wood into school from the Environment Agency to discuss various aspects of rivers – also as part of their Geography topic. Next week Year 6 will be walking to Lower Norchard Farm with Mrs Wood to explore the wetland that Bowbrook helped to install 10 years ago – don’t forget your wellies Year 6!

Thank you to Year 3 and Miss Tait for their assembly about the RNLI on Thursday. Our Star Pupils for this week are:

J3 - Amelia Siviter for excellent effort at swimming - she swam 300m
J4 - Aadil Haque for showing an amazing talent for spelling
J5 - Adam Baker for a superb effort in coding lessons
J6 - Harper - Lily Hartwell for being a great team player in netball.

We also commended Harriet Smith (J5) for passing her Grade 2 Ballet exam and Eva Parkes (J3) has gained her pen licence. Very well done to everybody.

Change of Date!

Please note that we have moved our World Book Day to Friday 8^th March instead of the Thursday7^th March. This is due to our U11 girls being involved in the rescheduled ISA netball tournament. The girls are very keen to compete in the tournament but equally don’t want to miss out on our World Book Day. So, you have an extra day to prep your costumes and we wish our U11 girls good luck in their netball matches.
